A look back at the past of how my gaming passion began ~ Cher Cabula
It was a very distinct memory but I remember it like yesterday. My family has just moved to Antipolo at that time and I was an incoming third year at the best Catholic school in town. I was making the most out of my summer and got so tanned because of it in the process too, My mom had to get something from my godmother’s house and I went with her. It so happens that my godmother’s nephews were there as well. I peeked into the entertainment room and there they were, huddled in front of the TV and flustered over a game. (more…)

When the local internet scene began taking hits on the DotA gaming public I wasn’t one of those people who jumped the bandwagon and threw stones at the Warcraft III custom game and the players who were obsessing over it. I wasn’t one of those people who picked up a stone and threw it at the obsessed DotA gamers because I once reached that stage where I consciously chose playing the game over my girlfriend (who’s now my ex, thank God). The first time I experienced the word fanboys it’s from getting involved with the cosplay community. I thought then the fanboy wars in the cosplay community was intense, but when I stumbled into the gaming world I realized things are a lot more intense in this arena.
Landing My Dream Job

I’ve been reading game review magazines since I was a kid. Ever since I stumbled across EGM and the other old school videogame magazines I had kept on asking my dad 150 PHP so I can run down Cartimar and buy myself the latest issue at the magazine store. However, those were the times when I was still collecting basketball cards because I had neighbors who do, so I was forced to allocate the money I asked for to either the cards or the mag.
There were times when the mag won and there were times the cards won. There was however one thing that stuck, I wanted to be a game reviewer. (more…)
