I said before that people from the future should use their technological superiority in battles, but this wasn’t what I had in mind.

Anyway, Sagara Yoshiharu is a modern day junkie for some game featuring Oda Nobunaga from Japanese history. One day, though, he finds himself in that very specific time for no apparent reason. His life gets saved, but at the cost of the life of a man who would eventually turn out to be Toyotomi Hideyoshi. So yeah, history is doomed. (Yes, this plot is very much like something I read about the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Ryuuguden I think.)

So he takes his place, only to find out that a lot of the historical figures are actually girls, young pretty girls to boot. So yeah, historical gender bender. And so Sagara Yoshiharu proceeds with playing out history as he knows it, serving as a retainer for the female Oda Nobuna.

That’s the premise, however I somehow am confused as to why he foolishly announces to everyone that he comes from the future. Moreover, he is quick to brandish his knowledge of what people are supposed to do. Wouldn’t that ruin time continuity? Given that I don’t know Japanese history, this really was odd and confusing.

Moreover, the episode pretty much just steamrolls through events, in a rather awkward fashion. Random scenes pop out just to get us introduced to the gender-bendered characters as well as to get the story going. Honestly it doesn’t make for an interesting watch.

Sadly, even with the idea of using cute girls as replacement for historical characters in order to make for an interesting show, this didn’t really turn out that well for me. Sengoku Basara is probably better than this, even if I disliked how people turned into orbs of light to fight in the pilot episode. So… meh.
