Android Game Review: Disney’s Where’s My Water?

 disney-wheres-my-water-android-game-009

Where’s My Water is an Android Game where you help Swampy, a very hygienic alligator who refuses to swim in the swamps with the others. As a result, they seek to sabotage Swampy’s bath by sending poisonous ooze and algae to tamper with his clean water. This game is thoroughly addicting and surprisingly, Swampy is very charming. This could easily replace Angry Birds and Cut the Rope as a forerunner in Android Physics-based gaming.

Free Android Game Review: Turning Melo

free-android-game-turning-melo-005

I have now a new game that I’m getting addicted to. Turning Melo is an adaptation of a classic pipe game which aims to test your logic, patience and analysis skills. Help Melo find the right path towards the Holy Ruby by tapping on the hexagon tiles that rotate to align the paths.

Free Android Game Review: Circus City

circus-city-free-android-game-011

Circus City is a no-fuss free Android game available for download at the Android Market. Note that I used the word no-fuss here because unlike most games, Circus City doesn’t demand for it to be looked at constantly. The object of the game is very simple and straightforward – just aim to have the best circus in town.

Free Android Game Review: Hanging with Friends

Zynga’s version of the classic Hangman game is now available for free on the Android Market but with slightly tweaked gameplay and much much cuter graphics. The game objective remains the same, guess the word that was given by your opponent. If you’ve played Words with Friends, you’ll notice similarities in the main menu interface and the graphic style.

Portal Free on Steam until Sept. 20th!

learn-with-portals

Educators are now finally recognizing the role of video games in providing an alternative form of learning. I can’t think of a better example than Portal. So coinciding with the launch of the site Learn with Portals, Steam is also offering the game as a free download until Sept. 20, 2011. The game Portal, educators believe, will teach students the fundamentals of physics and the skill of critical thinking. One of their goals is to get kids interested long enough to trigger their imaginations in science and engineering projects. Free Android Game Review: Alchemy Genetics

alchemy-genetics-android-market

Alchemy Genetics is a new combination game for Android much like its original predecessor Alchemy. What’s changed is that this time you’ll be combining cute animals. Currently there are more than 500 combinations that you can make starting with 4 basic animals. There’s no obvious logic while combining the animals, just remember to have fun and maybe you’ll notice some of the humor along the way.

Free Android Game Review: Words with Friends

Aside from being a geek, I’m also a big nerd and part of that is being obsessed with word games. Since I can’t find a decent free Scrabble game available in the Android Market (that’s not country specific), this was like a gift from heaven. It also has the added bonus of getting to play with friends since it’s synced with Facebook.

Starting the game for the first time requires you to create an account and this is where you’ll also be asked if you want to integrate the app with Facebook. The game screen shows the whole game board that you can pinch to zoom in and out to view the tiles up close.

Free Android Game Review: Fruit Ninja vs. Fruit Slice

2

fruit-games

I’ve always confused these two games but having sat down with both for a while now, one game rates slightly higher than the other. Both games involve fruit slicing action and are almost like clones when it comes to graphics and some gameplay elements. The objective of both games are the same, slice as many fruits as possible without missing or it’s game over.

Burn the Rope (and some insects!) Review

burn-the-rope-bannerWhile most say that Burn the Rope is just a mimic of Cut the Rope, it’s really an entirely different game. It’s fun, addictive and most of all, it’s FREE. Since it’s a casual game, the gameplay is really simple – burn as much rope as possible to progress to the next level. You can do this by moving the phone around but you must remember to keep the flame burning up or else the fire will burn down and you’ll lose.

Making it in the gaming industry with Game Dev Story

game-dev-story-banner

As a simulation game, at first I wasn’t convinced that Game Dev Story would get me hooked. After all, the premise of the game is pretty simple…start off with a small company developing games and eventually work your way up in the industry to control the games and console market. As a gamer, it would definitely be a dream come true to be able to work in one of the big game companies like EA or Blizzard. For now though, this mobile game (both for Android and iOS) may be able to satisfy that fantasy. For the record, once I’ve started playing…let’s just say it became really addicting.
