It’s been a long time coming. I can’t believe it took me almost a month for me to actually post anything about Skyrim. It has sucked my soul hard enough, you see.

I was tasked by the big boss to talk about my GOTY which I think is pretty obvious already. So many other people have already given valid reasons why Skyrim deserves all the GOTY titles in the world but oh well, if you want to look at how this geeky girlfriend sees things, then read on.
So how does one become GOTY material for me?

So after sacrificing thirty virgins and an old goat to the gods, I’ve finally gotten hold of a copy of Dead Island.
I’ve heard mixed reviews about the game and frankly, I don’t care. I watched gameplay videos and decided for myself that I WILL buy this game and play this game.

Dead Space 2 Review
0This game will be one tough act to follow.
The first chapter of games usually introduce the basic functions to the player: how to open inventory, use an item, talk to people, and a lot of “Professor X wants to see you in his office.” In the case of Dead Space 2, your first instruction goes along the lines of:
“RUN.”
I haven’t played a game that made me dive in headfirst into the thick of survival horror quite as effectively as Dead Space 2 did.

I started the game determined to go all Renegade on everyone’s business. I enjoyed being Renegade for the first few hours. I thought the female Shepard looking all scarred and glowy was awesome.

First of all let me just say that downloading this in a 3rd world country with 3rd world download speed is torture. I’m sure that while I was downloading it, tens of thousands of gazillions of people, each with faster internet connection than I could ever have, were downloading it at the same time. It took at least a day for me to finish downloading the gargantuan demo. 2GB worth, at least.
But oh dear lawd it was so worth it.
Dragon Age 2: Maybe If We Give it a Chance?

I’m going to be downright honest here, when I first heard about DA2, the lack of an origin story threw me off. The origin story was what I loved most about the Dragon Age franchise. The feeling that I’m not taking on anyone’s shoes but my own; the feeling that this is MY story and I’M THE GODDAMN HERO; THAT’S the selling point, THAT is what made me play the game for so many times. Now here comes DA2 and I’m supposed to play this… this Hawke?

Do a quick search on google on why you should date a gamer and you’d be bombarded with reasons why you should NOT. Gamers have a bad rep about being bad lovers. No, it’s not really about the sex. It’s about not having time for our partners. We are always portrayed as the selfish bastards who would readily cancel a date for another hour or two of Starcraft. We’re always the bad guys, always the inconsiderate ones.
It’s time we remedy this blasphemy.
I Finished Dragon Age Origins 24 Times
0Let me begin with a scene that broke my heart.
This is the part where I have to convince Alistair, who by that point of the game I have fallen madly in-love with, to sleep with a woman I’ve grown to despise.
This whole conversation left me cursing Bioware for making me go through this emotional turmoil. At the same time, it also made me want to put up a shrine in their name for creating a game that could rouse this much sorrow and anguish from me.
What DAO does so well is that it hauls you inside its story and then makes you believe that you ARE the story. Playing DAO made me believe that this wasn’t just Dragon Age Origins. It was Dragon Age: My Origins. Roleplaying was not only easy; it was practically the only way to play the game.
