Kingston, the independent world leader in memory products, today announced the launch of HyperX Red Limited Edition Memory and a new look for HyperX LoVo low-voltage modules. These memory modules have a new look and are designed for PC modders, system builders and entry-level gamers looking to push the performance envelope.

HyperX Red Limited Edition has a sleek and aggressive look that provides a stylish accent to any motherboard or desktop computer in which it is installed. HyperX Red is Intel XMP ready and is available in 8GB kits and 4GB single modules at 1600MHz and 1333MHz, in both 1.65v and 1.5v. With the ease of installation and HyperX reliability, these new modules meet the needs of consumers and gamers alike who seek higher performance via faster speeds and larger capacities.

Kingston has also redesigned the look of its HyperX LoVo low-voltage modules. The new streamlined HyperX LoVo will remain in its standard green color but with a heatspreader similar to the HyperX Genesis. HyperX LoVo consumes less power and reduces heat thus requiring less fan speed to create a cool and quiet machine. Running at 1600MHz at 1.35v or 1333MHz at 1.25v, it is perfect for Intel’s mini-ITX ‘Apple Glen’ motherboards, AMD’s Llano platform and “always on” home theater PCs or home media servers. HyperX LoVo is available in 8GB and 4GB kits of two.

“The enthusiast community knows the HyperX brand is synonymous with high speed, high quality and stylish design,” said Ann Bai, DRAM Memory Sales Director, APAC Region,Kingston. “The new HyperX Red and the updated look of LoVo are great additions to our HyperX family. We have high-performance memory solutions to meet the specific needs of everyone from the entry-level gamer to the seasoned professional.”

Kingston HyperX memory is backed by a lifetime warranty and free technical support. For more information, please visit www.kingston.com/uk/memory/hyperX

Kingston, the independent world leader in memory products, today announced an app to enable Wi-Drive use with Kindle Fire. Shipping in later Q1, Kingston Wi-Drive will also be available in a 64GB capacity. In addition, existing Wi-Drive users can get a free app update for Apple devices that allow AirPlay and DRM support. The award-winning Kingston Wi-Drive is wireless portable storage for tablets and smartphone devices including Kindle Fire, Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, and lets users store and share content wirelessly with three users simultaneously.

Kingston Wi-Drive was first released in 2011 for Apple devices and can now be used for the Android-based Kindle Fire tablet. The app, available on the Amazon Appstore for Android, allows Kindle Fire users to expand the capacity of the device beyond the 8GB of internal storage.

The 64GB version coming soon allows even more storage and sharing, and joins the Wi-Drive family currently available in 16GB and 32GB capacities. An app update for Apple devices allows AirPlay support for streaming of music*, photos and videos**.For iPhone users working with documents, Wi-Drive presents the “Open in” option so the user can select which app to use to view the document, and also allows copying to the Wi-Drive app. Purchased or DRM content can now be accessed on Apple mobile devices through the Safari browser via the Wi-Drive’s IP address as long as the device is assigned to a computer using an iTunes account.

“Since its debut, Kingston Wi-Drive has been a success with Apple mobile device users. As more consumers adopt Kindle Fire as their mobile device for personal media consumption, we are proud to help this new segment of users store and share photos, videos, music and much more,” said Nathan Su, Flash Memory Sales Director, APAC Region,Kingston. “The combination of the app update, higher capacity and Kindle Fire support makes Wi-Drive the perfect wireless storage solution for mobile users.”

Kingston Wi-Drive allows users to stream videos, access music or share files with tablets and smartphone owners. The distinctively designed, pocket-sized Wi-Drive utilizes Flash-based technology to store data from USB-compatible PCs. These files are then easily retrieved via Wi-Drive’s built-in wireless signal without requiring cables or an Internet connection. Three users can work simultaneously with different file types from a single Wi-Drive without any performance disruption.

A video of Kingston Wi-Drive can be seen here.

Kingston Wi-Drive is backed by a one-year warranty and free technical support. For more information visit www.kingston.com/uk/usb/wireless.

Razer’s cloud-based storage software Synapse 2.0 comes out of beta, with added support for more Razer peripherals

Razer, the world leader in high performance gaming hardware is bringing its cloud-based unified driver and peripherals management software, Razer Synapse 2.0 out of beta.

Razer Synapse 2.0 is now available for download to the public and currently supports the Star Wars: The Old Republic gaming peripherals by Razer, the Razer Blade gaming laptop, Razer Naga HEX action-RPG/MOBA gaming mouse, and the award-winning Razer Naga MMO gaming mouse. Razer Synapse 2.0 is designed as a unified driver, so settings for Razer products are conveniently accessible through one single program instead of through separate and multiple drivers. Razer will continue to add support for more of Razer’s legacy and upcoming products.

“I’m proud of what we’ve done with Razer Synapse 2.0 – its value added for gamers who use Razer products. We’ve made it easier for them to have the custom settings for their Razer peripherals stored in a cloud so they spend less time setting up and more time doing what they should be doing, gaming,” said Robert ‘RazerGuy’ Krakoff, President, Razer USA.

The new Razer Synapse 2.0 software is built on next-gen, cloud-based technology to give gamers full access to all their peripheral hardware settings, anytime, anywhere at tournaments, LAN centers, at home and at the office. Gamers will be able to take their Razer Naga HEX and any other supported peripherals to a LAN center and instantly sync their personalized custom settings simply by logging into Razer Synapse 2.0. Pro-gamers will be able to access custom settings while using Razer peripherals provided by a tournament host; so they spend less time setting up controls and more time gaming. As a unified driver for all upcoming Razer products, Razer Synapse 2.0 also automatically downloads game add-ons, and firmware updates as they become available, ensuring Razer devices are always updated and in optimum condition for winning.

Project Fiona – the only tablet in the world designed for PC gaming

Razer™, the world leader in high performance gaming hardware, is proud to announce its newest gaming concept design – the Project Fiona PC Gaming Tablet. Unlike other tablets designed for general use and casual gaming, Project Fiona is a tablet concept designed to play the most popular PC games of today with an intuitive control setup for a phenomenal on-the-go gaming experience.

Powered by Intel® Core™ i7

Razer worked closely with Intel to harness the power of its third generation Intel® Core™ i7 processor in Project Fiona. As a result, Razer’s tablet is more akin to a fully functioning PC; and yet in a form factor and platform highly familiar to everybody.

Instead of relying on developers to work on a suite of brand new applications for Project Fiona, many PC games today run natively on the tablet concept without the need to be ported, optimized, or developed from scratch.

Moreover, Project Fiona will feature one of the most powerful processors integrated in a tablet form factor. Instead of the casual and mobile-only games that run on under-powered tablets, Project Fiona will run full-fledged PC games that have never run on a tablet form factor before until today.

“Project Fiona’s combination of high performance Intel-based gaming hardware and innovative tablet design is specifically focused for PC gamers. It will unleash the PC gamer to play their existing and future high-end games in one of the most exciting new form factors – a tablet,” said Brad Graff, Director of Partner Marketing, Netbook & Tablet Group, Intel.

PC Gaming User Interface Designed For a Tablet Form Factor

Razer’s multi-award winning user interface and ergonomics team have developed an all-new hybrid user interface scheme for Project Fiona. Featuring integrated dual game controllers with ultra-precise analog sticks, Project Fiona runs gamepad-enabled PC games right out of the box.

Along with the game controllers, Project Fiona is also designed with ultra-precise accelerometers and a highly sensitive multi-touch screen. This provides game developers with new game experiential opportunities to develop around the hybrid game control experience offered by Project Fiona. It also ensures current-generation PC games run on the tablet concept, as well as any existing games optimized for the touchscreen interface of a tablet.

Future games developed for Fiona are expected to take advantage of not just the integrated gamepad controls but also integrate core game functionality controls for the touchscreen and accelerometer-based controls.

“While multi-touch screens have become the de facto user interface for tablets, they are not the right interface for serious PC gaming,” said Min-Liang Tan, CEO, Razer. “The user interface we have designed for Project Fiona allows all existing PC games to be played right out of the box and also provides game developers new opportunities as they develop next-gen games on a highly-intuitive platform. Both developers and gamers are going to love the new user interface that combines the best of a gamepad, multi-touch screen and accelerometers for an all-new gaming experience on-the-go.”

The Most Immersive Gaming Experience on a Tablet

To further intensify the gaming experience with Project Fiona, Razer’s integrated dual controllers deliver full force feedback, so every explosion or gun recoil can be felt in the gamer’s hands.

THX® Ltd., which works with many of the world’s most innovative audio and video home entertainment manufacturers, agrees that the tablet adds tremendous flexibility to a gamer’s lifestyle. “Video games, music and entertainment that previously were mainly enjoyed within the home can now be enjoyed anywhere through tablets such as the Razer Concept PC Gaming Tablet,” said Chris Golson, Senior Director, Business Development, THX.

Developer units of the Project Fiona Concept PC Gaming Tablet will be made available soon. Interested parties should email developer@razerzone.com for more information. Project Fiona will be on display at Razer’s booth in South Hall 3, #31473.

Razer releases all-new gaming mouse with six thumb buttons designed for MOBA, action-RPG and hack and slash games pwnage

Razer, the world leader in high performance gaming hardware, is taking your intense arena battling and frenzied hack and slash gaming to the next level with the Razer Naga Hex MOBA/action-RPG gaming mouse. Inspired by the award-winning Razer Naga MMO gaming mouse’s 12-button thumb grid, the Razer Naga Hex features six large thumb buttons optimized for the user interfaces found in action-RPG and MOBA games.

Excitement in the world of gaming is heating up with the rise of the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) genre, with games like critically acclaimed League of Legends. Games that throw champions into a ring to arm themselves, level up, and duke it out against one another while defending massive super structures.

Six mechanical buttons optimized for MOBA/action-RPGs
Enter the Razer Naga Hex, designed with six mechanical buttons to specifically bind the spells, abilities, items, and other invaluable commands in MOBA games like League of Legends for faster and easier actuation. With a mechanical key infrastructure that requires less force to actuate, you gain the edge in speed over enemies, attacking before they can react. The Razer Naga Hex is also perfect for obsessive clicking in hack and slash games.

High performance buttons up to 250 clicks a minute
Since both the RPG and MOBA game genres require intensive clicking, the Razer Naga Hex’s buttons are constructed with special switches for a performance of up to 250 clicks per minute – perfect for pro-gamers with lightning fast reflexes. Don’t worry about hyper-clicking though, as the Razer Naga Hex utilizes switches that are good for up to a whopping 10 million clicks.

Ergonomic shape and interchangeable thumb rests
The Razer Naga Hex is designed with an ergonomic curvature that fits your hand comfortably. The placement of the six thumb buttons has also been perfected over countless design reiterations, and validated by MOBA pro-gamers to ensure you’re getting the best game control and grip. 3 interchangeable thumb rests of different heights are included so you get the best comfort and grip that suits you. This is especially important for reducing strain during lengthy gaming sessions at home or at highly competitive tournaments.

Synapse 2.0 enabled
The Razer Naga Hex will also be Razer Synapse 2.0 enabled – this means the mouse is installed with the world’s first cloud-based storage software that automatically saves all user custom mouse settings and profiles to a cloud server. These settings can then be accessed from any computer, with any Razer Naga Hex, ensuring that the mouse is ready for use instantly, and setup just the way you like it.

“I love RPG and MOBA games. And I believe that having the right abilities available is the difference between slaying enemies and winning, or dying a miserable death and having your character wiped in hardcore mode,” said Robert ‘RazerGuy’ Krakoff, President, Razer USA. “That’s why we designed the Razer Naga Hex – we believe that the six mechanical thumb buttons are going to help gamers stay ahead of the competition with the best ergonomic control.”

About the Razer Naga Hex Gaming Mouse
The Razer Naga Hex is perfectly suited for pro-gamers and fans of the MOBA/action-RPG game genres. It is primed with six mechanical thumb buttons for the exact number of controls necessary to suit the user interfaces of those games. Bind your skill-bar or inventory grid to the six buttons for faster, more comfortably efficient access to your full range of powers as you take the competition down.

Razer, the world leader in high performance gaming hardware, today announced it has secured a US$50 million round led by IDG-Accel China Capital Fund (“IDG-Accel”), one of the leading global investment funds in the world with IDG and Accel Partners as its strategic partners.

The minority investment by IDG-Accel is the first-ever round of venture capital raised by Razer. Funding to date has been contributed by angel investors as well as through Razer’s global operations.

“We took a long time raising our first VC round as games like Battlefield 3 kept us pretty busy recently,” said Min-Liang Tan, co-founder and CEO of Razer. “More importantly, we took our time selecting an institutional investor as we wanted to find a partner that understood our commitment to gaming and our no-compromise attitude to designing products. Plus these guys didn’t freak out when we disappeared for a week in the middle of the deal when Skyrim launched.”

Razer has built a cult brand around its products and designs with millions of fans worldwide. The company is not just one of the largest gaming hardware brands in the US and Europe but has also been recently ranked as one of the top technology brands in China with strategic partnerships with the largest Chinese gaming companies like Tencent, Shanda, Changyou and Perfect World.

“Given our global reach, we wanted an institutional partner who didn’t just provide funding but could also help us scale. IDG-Accel is a global fund and their relationships in the US and China will definitely be complementary for our worldwide businesses,” continued Min-Liang Tan. “We’ve been having fun and kicking ass while being funded by our internal operations these couple of years – now imagine the kind of badass products we’ll be designing with the resources that IDG-Accel will bring to the table. I just hope that IDG-Accel is aware that our board meetings generally start with a game of Counterstrike and the losers have to buy coffee.”

Razer intends to use the funds to invest in technology, expand and innovate on its portfolio of designs and to pay for the video gaming habits of the management and staff, though not necessarily in that order.
