In the latest Kotaku post, Capcom officially announced that Mega Man Universe has been cancelled. The reason behind the move is still vague with Capcom only stating that they scrapped the game due to “various circumstances”.
Ashcraft speculates that the reason behind the move may be Inafune’s recent exit from Capcom or the Earthquake that has rocked Japan a few weeks ago. Regardless of the reason however, that announcement was the final nail to the MMU coffin.
The game was supposed to come out this year on the PSN and the Xbox Live arcade but that’s out of the question now.
Megaman Universe is the latest Mega Man game that is inspired by Mega Man 2. MMU is a 2.5D platformer that features various incarnations of Mega Man. MMU also is the first ever Mega Man game that used the western moniker in Japan, which knows the blue robot as “Rockman”.
What that sudden sad news, we just have to wait for more updates on Mega Man Online and hope that doesn’t follow suit as well.
