Fighting games aren’t really that well known for their storylines but a lot of players want to really get acquainted with the games and characters in many ways and the story modes usually grants us a deeper look into the characters personality and background than what’s written on their profiles in the manual (if there is one.) In a recent discussion in the Capcom forums, VP Christian Svensson stated the following which is sure to please fans of story-driven games:
“The strategic marketing group here has for quite a while been pushing for our fighting franchises to have more and better single player content, of which full-fledged story modes are one component,”Â
Although the Capcom VP was quick to cite that he will not be commenting on when and how those plans will be manifesting themselves. Still, there looks like there’s still hope for fighting games to at least have some good back-story driving the primary gaming experience other than sheer fighting.
