Hello, folks. Remember last year’s Tekken movie. I won’t hold it against you if you don’t. It was forgettable at best… and utterly horrendous at worst. Well, it seems Namco Bandai wants to help you wash out the bad aftertaste that movie left with a new CG animated feature film, Tekken: Blood Vengeance. The film is directed by Youichi Mouri, the man behind the opening cinematics of Tekken 5 and 6. I liked those opening movies (especially 5’s), and for those of you familiar with them, that should give you a pretty good idea of what the film should look like.
It’ll be out this summer and available in 3D. As for a local release, I’m staying cautiously optimistic over the prospect of getting one. After all, Tekken is a pretty big deal here. I mean, we’ve had Katsuhiro Harada and even Jon Foo (U.S. movie’s Jin) drop by in the past. So, why the hell not, right?
At least it looks like we won’t be getting any of that “THIS IS IRON FIST!” kind of nonsense. Now, if only Asuka Kazama would show up, that would definitely sweeten the deal for me.
And here’s a shout out to G for alerting us to the presence of this trailer.
