If you’re looking for more reasons to jump in and play DC Universe Online but you’re a little apprehensive because it’s subscription based? Don’t be apprehensive anymore! Since this coming October, the DC MMO will now be Free-to-Play. Yes, that’s right Sony Online Entertainment finally decided to go Free to Play for DCUO.
Of course the F2P business model change would mean that there will be segregation betwen those who are playing for free, those who spent on the game and those who are still paying the monthly subscription. Here’s a rundown of the segregation once October sets in:
SOE Closes Studios, Discontinues The Agency

Sony Entertainment Online finally confirms on both kotaku and joystiq that they have closed down three studios in Seattle, Denver and Tucson, laid off 205 people and cancels their highly delayed spy MMO, The Agency. According to the statement, this move was to streamline the company’s global workforce and to reduce cost.
DC Universe Online Has a Release Date

Okay ladies and gents, those who have been anticipating patiently for the upcoming DC universe themed MMO can finally rest easy and rejoice. Sony Online Entertainment (SEO) just recently announced the official release date for DC Universe Online, and it’s coming the first quarter of 2011.
