God Eater Burst, Namco Bandai’s expansion/follow-up to last year’s God Eater, now has a demo available for download. All you have to do is go to THIS PAGE, enter some details, and you’re good to go. It’s in Japanese, but it’s not really that hard to get around.

The demo packs the first 29 missions from the upcoming game, making it one of the heftiest demos we’ve come across in a while. The demo for the original God Eater had about half a dozen tutorial missions and about six main missions. That’s quite a lot of content to play through while waiting for the full game to come out.

For those out of the loop, God Eater is pretty much Namco Bandai’s stab at the co-op beast slaying market that’s so big in Japan these days. As opposed to Monster Hunter’s fantasy setting, God Eater takes place in a post-apocalyptic world and puts you in the shoes of a titular God Eater. As a God Eater, your job is to hunt down and slay Aragami, the creatures who brought about the end of the world in which the game is set. You’ll be able to switch between swords, guns, and shields on the fly and even use the Aragami’s own powers against them. Here’s a trailer from TGS to top things off:

God Eater Burst will be out in Japanese stores on October 28th, both as a full game which in includes the original God Eater, or an “append version” that only contains the expansion. D3 Publisher will be bringing it to English speaking audiences this February 28, 2011.

This morning, Siliconera posted a story about the revelation of a sequel to 2009′s Dissidia: Final Fantasy. Known as Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy. The title is slated for release next year for the PSP. Details are pretty scarce at the moment, but according to the Shonen Jump scan they posted, it’s confirmed that two new characters will be joining the fray: Kain Highwind from Final Fantasy IV and Lightning from the most recent entry in the series, Final Fantasy XIII. View the scan after the jump.

Dissidia was one of the reasons I bought a PSP in the first place. I think my neighbors freaked out when they heard me scream “F@$%% YEAH!!!”, but I digress. We’ll keep an eye out for additional details and media in the coming weeks and month. Speaking of which, the 2010 Tokyo Game Show is just around the corner. Keep your fingers crossed and hope it makes an appearance there in any way, shape or form.

On a final note, let me ask you, who would you like to see in Dissidia Duodecim?

After possibly weeks of speculation, Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinoro Ono and company have unveiled their latest crossover fighter, Street Fighter X Tekken. Yep, you read that right. At the Street Fighter IV and Beyond panel at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, Ono-san was suddenly interrupted by Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada and both went on to co-announce the crossover. Shortly after that, attendees were treated to the game’s announcement trailer, done in the same sketchy/watercolor style of the SF IV games. For your convenience, we have the trailer right after the jump.

To fuel the hype even further, Ono and Harada did a live gameplay demo for the audience. From what was been shown so far, the game will be based on Street Fighter IV’s graphic engine and gameplay mechanics, with a few new/old twists thrown in. The biggest surprise is the addition of a tag feature and the ability to perform team Ultra Combos (or whatever they’re gonna be called here). What started out as a match between Ryu and Kazuya fired up the crowd as additional combatants Chun-Li and Nina Williams joined the fray. According to Ono, the game is still in its early development and won’t be out for a while. In the meantime, he told the audience to enjoy Marvel VS Capcom 3.

That’s not all, though. For their end of the deal, Namco Bandai will also be developing their own crossover, Tekken X Street Fighter, which will expectedly use Tekken 6′s mechanics (3D spaces and movement). Heavily reminiscent of the Capcom and SNK collaborations early last decade, right? Well, it’s about time these two giants of the fighting genre came together, and it looks like they’ve got much in store for fans of both series.

On a side note, though, this isn’t the first time Capcom and Namco Bandai collaborated. They last crossed paths in the 2005 strategy RPG, Namco X Capcom.
