People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, more commonly known as PETA, has launched a campaign against one of the defining icons of the 90s; PETA is shooting down Super Mario Brothers for wearing what they claim is the skin of a raccoon dog referencing the character’s ability in Super Mario Bros. 3 where Mario dons a raccoon or tanooki suit, or as PETA calls it, a raccoon dog. PETA has launched a microsite dedicated to just this issue asking for pledges and they even have a game for it. Moreover, they timed all this to coincide with the recent launch of Nintendo’s Super Mario 3D Land.
Beyond the Labyrinth Shiny Battle Trailer
019 January, 2012 marks the release of tri-Ace and Konami‘s 3DS dungeon crawler, Beyond the Labyrinth in Japanese shores. The video above showcases its battle system, all with shiny chains of, well, sparkles.
As of writing, there are still no plans foran English localization. But I feel we’ll get to that sooner.

Mega Man Legends 3 Project canned

Well, this is terrible news to wake up to.
Capcom has just decided not to move forward with the production of the long-awaited Mega Man Legends 3 following the cancellation of the Prototype Version. According to Capcom, the project failed to meet the criteria needed to go into full production. They also went on to comment that the cancellation had nothing to do with Capcom R&D Head Keiji Inafune’s departure. (more…)

A Little Inside Joke About the 3DS
According to Nintendo, the Online store for their latest handheld device, the 3DS is going to open next month (which is frankly a few days away). In celebration of it’s opening Nintendo is giving a game to players (for a limited time) who would be trying out (or logging into) the online store.
And guess what the game is… (oh no the header isn’t a dead giveaway)
Yep… you’re getting Excitebike, oh wait but there’s more! You’re not just getting the old Excitebike, no sir, you’d be getting EXCITEBIKE 3D. That’s right the motorcross classic is getting the 3D make-over and Nintendo is handing it out for free! (more…)
