As we inch ever so closer to Street Fighter X Tekken’‘s March release, Capcom is seemingly pulling out the big guns for one big push to build up more hype before the game comes out. As promised by current head honcho of all things SF, Yoshinoro Ono over Twitter, six additions to the roster have been revealed, along with previously confirmed fighters Asuka Kazama (Tekken) and Rufus (Street Fighter). These are: Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, and Ling Xaioyu for the Tekken side, and Vega (Balrog in Japan), Balrog (M. Bison in Japan), and Juri representing Street Fighter. In the meantime enjoy the cinematic trailer posted above and the gameplay trailer along with some sweet character artwork after the jump.

Of course, there are hints in the trailers as to who else we’ll be seeing in subsequent character reveals. Street Fighter X Tekken will be released on March 6 of this year for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Playstation Vita.

Thousand Pounds Action Company, the fine folks behind the slick Ultra Combo videos and fan film Naruto Shippuuden: Dreamers’ Fight are at it again, but this time, they’ve got some backing. Working in collaboration with Capcom, Thousand Pounds is shooting a commercial to coincide with the release of Street Fighter X Tekken early next year, and this is the announcement of said collaboration.

Things seem to be going fine until they get start getting into heated debates about their favorite characters. I can’t say all hell breaks loose, but it is pretty fun to watch, nonetheless. Also, I hope I’m not the only one who thinks Amy Johnston is equal parts adorable and badass in this video.

Capcom released a rather hilarious cinematic trailer for Street Fighter X Tekken featuring Rufus getting into a diner brawl. Along with that, Capcom Europe’s blog released a quartet of new screens featuring recently-teased characters Heihachi Mishima, Lili, Rolento, and Zangief, which you can find after the break.

Tokyo Game Show is just about a day away, so it’s safe to expect that we’ll be seeing gameplay videos and more media with this new batch of characters very soon.

With the Tokyo Game Show just looming a wee bit over our heads and the game’s release inching closer ever so slowly, Capcom released two new character teasers for Street Fighter X Tekken. Can you figure out who they are? The other one can be found right after the jump.

 Street Fighter X Tekken is slated for release early next year for Playstation 3, Playstation Vita, and Xbox 360. Stay tuned for more details to be released during the weekend of TGS.

I’m saying this because the first half of this new trailer is a breakdown of SFxT‘s core mechanics. From the looks of it, Capcom is doing a fine job of blending the disparate gameplay styles of Street Fighter and Tekken. Here, you have explanations for basic tagging, switch cancels, launchers, basic juggles, and the supposed centerpiece of the game, the Cross Assault. That last item has both your characters enter the screen and you control them alternately instead of simultaneously as opposed to Marvel VS Capcom‘s Duo Team Attack, which I’ve noticed has the exact same input to initiate. And remember those tag-based supers we saw in the prototype gameplay footage from last year’s SDCC? They’ve been fully integrated into the game as Cross Arts.

Of course, this being from Gamescom and all, this trailer wouldn’t be complete without a character reveal or two. This time around, we have Hugo and Ibuki for the SF side,  and Raven and Kuma representing Tekken. Hugo, originally seen in Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact, naturally serves as Poison’s official tag partner and looks to provide a slower, harder hitting contrast to Poison’s somewhat speedier play style.  Raven comes in as Yoshimitsu’s, so no surprise there. Kuma and Ibuki, however, don’t seem to have theirs yet, so feel free to speculate. For Kuma, I’m going with either Paul or Heihachi, should either one be confirmed. Ibuki’s could either be Sakura or Makoto, the latter being a more obvious choice given their implied rivalry in SF III: Third Strike.

Other characters have been hinted or downright shown in previous trailers, and all I’m waiting them for  is their confirmation. Examples? Cody and Guy appeared at the end of this CG trailer from the San Diego Comic Con, and if Hugo’s confirmation is any indication, we’ll be seeing these guys as a team pretty soon. Asuka Kazama has been hinted at during the E3 trailer, and my guess is she’ll most likely be Jin’s partner. “But we have no idea if Jin’s even going to be in the game!” Relax, I’m just going on a hunch here. Besides, he got mentioned in the first cinematic trailer and it supposedly has something to do with Ryu.

With all that said, Street Fighter X Tekken (that’s “cross” for those of you who still pronounce it as  ”x”) will be cross assaulting its way onto Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Playstation Vita in early 2012.

Capcom just hoisted two new Street Fighter X Tekken trailers for this year’s San Diego Comic Con. Of course, the new trailers include the latest spate of character reveals. In this batch, we have Dhalsim and the ever gender-bending Poison for the Street Fighter side. Poison is a particularly special case, as this marks her second appearance as a playable character in a fighting game since Final Fight Revenge in 1999. Tekken‘s latest representatives to be revealed are Yoshimitsu, clad in his Tekken 3 armor, and British boxer Steve Fox.

We finally have some new info regarding Capcom’s latest entry in its long line of crossover fighting games, Street Fighter x Tekken. Announced last year at the San Diego Comic Con, the only things we’ve been treated to so far are two nearly identical gameplay demos and a whole lot of trolling between Yoshinori Ono (SF producer) and Katsuhiro Harada (Tekken series director). Well, Capcom unveiled some new tidbits and a good amount of media from the game at their recent Captivate press event. Hit the jump for screens and info.

• Dream match-up – Dozens of playable characters including Ryu, Ken, Guile, Able, and Chun-Li from Street Fighter as well as Kazuya, Nina, King, Marduk, and Bob from TEKKEN.
• Real-time Tag Battle – Fight as a team of two and switch between characters strategically.
• Familiar Controls – In SFxT, controls will feel familiar for fans of both series.
• Robust online modes – In addition to the online features from SSFIV, SFxT features totally upgraded online functionality and some new surprises.

Of course, this represents only a half of the collaboration between Capcom and Namco Bandai. Like the Capcom VS SNK series of the early 2000’s, both sides will come out with their respective games. Tekken x Street Fighter will be on its way well after the release of Street Fighter x Tekken.

Street Fighter x Tekken will be out on Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in 2012.

After possibly weeks of speculation, Street Fighter IV producer Yoshinoro Ono and company have unveiled their latest crossover fighter, Street Fighter X Tekken. Yep, you read that right. At the Street Fighter IV and Beyond panel at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, Ono-san was suddenly interrupted by Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada and both went on to co-announce the crossover. Shortly after that, attendees were treated to the game’s announcement trailer, done in the same sketchy/watercolor style of the SF IV games. To fuel the hype even further, Ono and Harada did a live gameplay demo for the audience. From what was been shown so far, the game will be based on Street Fighter IV’s graphic engine and gameplay mechanics, with a few new/old twists thrown in. The biggest surprise is the addition of a tag feature and the ability to perform team Ultra Combos (or whatever they’re gonna be called here). What started out as a match between Ryu and Kazuya fired up the crowd as additional combatants Chun-Li and Nina Williams joined the fray. According to Ono, the game is still in its early development and won’t be out for a while. In the meantime, he told the audience to enjoy Marvel VS Capcom 3.

That’s not all, though. For their end of the deal, Namco Bandai will also be developing their own crossover, Tekken X Street Fighter, which will expectedly use Tekken 6′s mechanics (3D spaces and movement). Heavily reminiscent of the Capcom and SNK collaborations early last decade, right? Well, it’s about time these two giants of the fighting genre came together, and it looks like they’ve got much in store for fans of both series.

On a side note, though, this isn’t the first time Capcom and Namco Bandai collaborated. They last crossed paths in the 2005 strategy RPG, Namco X Capcom.
