Dragon Ball Xenoverse, is being developed by Dimps for the PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360. Their previous Dragon Ball Z games include the Budokai series, Dragon Ball Z: Infinite Road, and Burst Limit. They also co-developed Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter X Tekken.
Early builds of the game look promising: the battles are set in 3D destructible environments much like Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and the Raging Blast series. You run when you are on the ground, swim when you are underwater, and fly while in the air. It will also feature dialogue during the fights as well as unique facial expressions when they strike an opponent or take damage.
The game-play is reminiscent of the Budokai Tenkaichi and Raging Blast series which means that you are free to roam around during fights. In-game transformations make their return after being removed from last year’s Battle of Z. What’s missing is the charging of the Ki for major blasts, but I think it would be a great thing if Dimps can come up with something that would prevent beam-spamming.
A lot of rumors about this game are circulating on the internet including having a possible roster of 126 characters and the inclusion of “what if”, movie, OVA, and GT characters but one thing’s for sure, if this game looks as good as the game-play demo, fans will have a rocking good time.
