Synopsis
Osomatsu-kun is a really really old anime. It’s about a set of sextuplet brothers in a series of wacky stories.
But therein lies the problem. How do you make an old show popular in the modern setting? Osomatsu and his brothers ask themselves the same question, in a both self-deprecating and breaking the fourth wall kind of thing. So they consider various things, which has them simulating lots of modern genres. Because talking about the wacky antics they do using the various modern genre and the various parodies they pull off won’t do them justice, I’ll just dump lots of screenshots here.
Obviously, those things won’t really work in the long run, so we come back to the actual show that is Osomatsu-san, where Osomatsu and his brothers are now all grown up.
Yes, the real show starts next episode.
Review
As a one-shot episode, this could be the greatest episode we’ll see this season. It’s just parodies upon parodies, laughs upon laughs. Once it got rolling, there was absolutely no-stop in the sheer wackiness of the show. And the fun factor is even magnified according to how well-versed you are on modern anime. It’s ridiculously good.
The only problem here is that the actual show only starts next week, and we still have no idea what it’ll be like. But hey, the first episode managed to pull off buzz and interest, so fair enough.

Do you want a throwback waifu? No? Then let’s move along.
The show might be more apt for lulzy husbando though…
