Talk2Gaming: Thoughts On the Level Up Games! and E-Games Merger

In the local game scene, Level Up! Games and E-games have been at odds with each other ever as far as I can remember. With each game company pitting release after release after release. In the years these two game publishing giants have operated in the country the two names have earned one negative title after another. For Level Up! Games the public stigma is that the people behind the companies have poor after market service while earning the ire of irate gamers as a corrupt company out to get ONLY it's player's money. On the other hand, E-games has earned the reputation of  hyping it's games up and leaving it to dry after the company has earned a killing and it's a corrupt company out to get ONLY it's player's money. So to be fair on both companies, they have it's own faults and failures but in the end...

Talk2Gaming: Trash Talking, What’s Your Say?

With the recent death of a local DotA player (Guess there was something more into the incident than earlier reported) due to a heated exchange that turned sour fast, I decided to reevaluate the already prevalent Trash Talking culture we have in our games, may it be MMORPGs, MOBAs or what not. We Filipinos have earned to the title as one of the most unruly, rude and uncultured people in online games. Now for this week's Talk2Gaming I want to hear your two-cents in Trash Talking in general AND the recent stabbing of Barry Robledo? Being an active player of LoL (and I used to play a lot of DotA, when it was still new), I was waiting for the big news someone would get killed over a DotA match. I am equally appalled of the people who actually say, "ang pikon ay laging talo" or "mapikon sa Trash Talk...

Talk2Gaming: Are Gamers Too Self-Entitled These Days?

remember this schmuck? So lately the gaming community is a buzz with the recent attacks on BioWare writer Jennifer Hepler (that even shin and nicole had to write about it). Even BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka had to step in and protect Hepler from all these attacks. The internet, with all the good it has done for us has become an avenue for vicious, immature and close minded people to voice out their once "small" views and get the limelight in a short blaze of glory. This begs the question if gamers these days have become too self-entitled for their own good? Or is this problem already present in the gamer psyche that due to the internet, this has become more exposed than it was before. For those who don't know what self-entitlement means: A feeling that that one deserves more than one actually does - urban dictionary So the question...

Talk2Gaming: What’s the best Dragon Ball game for you?

We're taking it light for this edition of Talk2Gaming and we want to ask you, the readers, what is your personal favorite Dragon Ball game. Yes, Dragon Ball. The one with Goku, Gohan, Vegeta and Bulma. The anime series that catapulted anime into US cable TV. The video above has inspired us to reflect on how Dragon Ball has affected our lives, and we think beating up Picollo and Brolli feels way better using a controller than powering up yourself. So do share to us what Dragon Ball games you enjoyed and why.

Talk2Gaming: Kill the SOPA Save the World

With our first ever attempt on putting up a forum, we (rather I) failed miserably. So instead of going for another forum, we'll just do a weekly discussion post where we, and you guys could voice out your concerns, thoughts, raves or rants on the topic presented, it doesn't mean that this is just strictly game-related themes (as our first topic would attest to). To start the ball rolling, we'd want to focus on the "big" thing in the internet right now, which is the Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA to us who hate long names. So before elaborating, I'd like to present what is SOPA? SOPA is the Stop Online Piracy Act, introduced last month by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith. It's a companion bill to the Protect IP Act, which targets Web companies...
