Intel is really ballsey enough to announce a new-gen processor mid-way into the life of Meteor Lake as we have Lunar Lake products just making waves. That includes MSI’s Claw, currently the only Intel-powered gaming handheld but that doesn’t seem to be an issue as MSI is already developing the next-gen model of the MSI Claw as we get introduced to the Claw 8 AI+ handheld gaming PC at COMPUTEX 2024, featuring upgrades from its predecessor. The Claw 8 AI+ is powered by an Intel Lunar Lake processor which Intel says launches on Q3 2024, coupled with up to 32GB of LPDDR5x RAM and a 1TB M.2 2280 SSD, allowing for future upgrades.
The device boasts a redesigned chassis for improved ergonomics and an 8-inch 1080p display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Two Thunderbolt ports enhance connectivity options, while a substantial 80-watt-hour battery promises extended gaming sessions with the booth demo unit showing 2 cables connected to the device with one possibly for outout and the other for power.
MSI’s quick turnaround isn’t surprising given Intel’s timeframe being known beforehand by partners, but this will definitely dampen enthusiast interest for the existing MSI Claw model. The Claw 8 AI+ is expected to launch in September, with pricing details yet to be revealed.
