If you think the XG49VQ, PG27UQ, and PG65 are insane, then you might want to rethink with ROG’s latest XG17 portable gaming monitor. The XG17 is the world’s first 240Hz portable gaming monitor, making it one of the bizarre products we’ve seen this Computex 2019 so far.

The ROG Strix XG17 shares the same silhouette with ASUS’ portable monitor line, namely the MB16AC, which we reviewed last December. It has a 17.3″ IPS 1080p display that’s rated with a 3ms response time and a whipping 240Hz refresh rate. It also supports an Adaptive Sync range of 48-240Hz, it is still not confirmed if the XG17 will be G-Sync compatible.
The Strix XG17 has the same Smart Case of the MB16AC that’s able to support various viewing angles, and the ability to be used vertically. It has an accessory that allows the device to be mounted on top of a laptop, as seen in the slide using the ROG Zephyrus. It also has its own battery which lasts up to 3hrs at 240Hz refresh rate. The inclusion of the battery will provide a longer gaming period as it doesn’t drain the battery of the laptop it’s connected to.
Pricing and Availability
ROG has not yet announced when the Strix XG17 will be available.
