Its COMPUTEX season once again and after all that is said and done during the event days, you just want to kick back and relax with friends. With more and more of us visiting COMPUTEX this year, I felt the need to share my go-to place to stay in Taipei. I already did a review of PoshPacker Hotel and praised how its value offering and hospitality easily makes it one of the most highly recommended place in Taipei.

There’s a few changes in the Hotel since our last visit back in November 2017. The PoshPacker Cafe at the lobby is now gone. Replacing it will be a milk tea shop from what I heard in the front desk but construction was still under way when I left so its going to be another few months before I see the new place.

The bold PoshPacker logo still graces the lobby with bar tables and stools for guests to lounge and chat in place. The logo is adorned with photos of guests from all over the world, all smiles with messages scribbled on them giving the hotel a really warm and family-like feel. To see yourself on the wall when you return is a nice feeling and seeing people there leave warm messages also gives you satisfaction that this hotel has done something right for these people to really appreciate them.

It’s totally different when COMPUTEX season is in full swing and I only get to spend time at the hotel late at night. Still, the basement lounge of PoshPacker Hotel is a great place to work or relax if you’re not planning to sleep yet. The place is calm and cozy and  even with plenty of people waiting to check-in filling the lounge sometimes, its mostly quiet and soothing.

Day lockers are still available for use when you don’t want to stash your stuff in your room when you go out. Taipei has a great locker industry in public and you can use these as quick storage when you want to leave something and get out quick for another tour around town.

Speaking of going around town, PoshPacker is located near Taipei Main Station making it a prime location. Taipei Main Station has access to many facilities and transport including the Airport MRT which offers in-town check-in and luggage handling. You can also access the High-Speed Rail via the Taipei Main Station. Other places of interest include the vicinity  around PoshPacker Hotel which is famous street for camera enthusiasts. Ximending, Taipei’s main shopping and entertainment destination, is also a few blocks nearby and offers a grand experience during weekend with plenty of people around. Shops, restaurants and entertainers are abound in Ximending including hobby stores for anime and toy collectors. For those that really want a lot of options, Taipei Main Station also houses Taipei Underground Mall which is almost a mile of anime toys and collectible stores.

One thing I didn’t cover last time is the laundry amenities at the roof deck. There are coin-op washers and dryers here where you can wash your laundry so you don’t need to bring much clothes with you if you plan on a longer stay. As the hotel doesn’t serve food, you’ll need to find those yourself. There’s plenty of 7-Elevens, Family Marts and other convenience stores around the place. There’s also plenty of fast food joints within the area as well as traditional snack stands if that’s up your alley.

PoshPacker boasts the most affordable rates in Taipei  and while it’s not heavily decked out in luxury, the hotel will do its best to make everyone feel at home. The hotel offers single-, twin- and triple-rooms. Prices are very competitive and are quite attractive especially if you’re looking to spend more time outside.

Overall, PoshPacker Hotel still remains consistent in their service quality and have not disappointed us despite the peak season hustle during COMPUTEX. We are highly pleased with the exceptional service and hospitality that PoshPacker offers and still highly recommends the hotel for Taipei visitors.
