We had the opportunity to have a short chat with the guys from Team Fnatic, namely LaMia and Pheilox of League of Legends fame and ask them a few questions. Fnaticรขโฌ™s Rain and Byul were supposed to join us but in true Korean fashion, I shit you not, they were playing Starcraft II against each other during their free time and thus unavailable for comment.
BossMac: Please introduce yourself.
LaMia: Hi, Iรขโฌ™m LaMia.
BosssMac: So that means you are Pheilox.
Pheilox: Itรขโฌ™s pronounced Fai-Lox but you can call me Fei-Lox.
BossMac: Fai-lox it is. Haha Anyways, tell us about a bit of your history. Where did you start your pro-gaming career?
Pheilox: I started with Warcraft III. Iรขโฌ™ve been playing for 9-10 years, I think.
LaMia: I started with DotA, Iรขโฌ™ve been playing for 6 years now.
BossMac: So do you guys play any other game in your รขโฌลoff-timesรขโฌย?
LaMia: Mostly RPGs, Diablo III.
Pheilox: I play a bit of Starcraft II. Just the campaigns.
BossMac: No versus games for you?
Pheilox: I check out the rankings and watch other players but no, just campaigns for me when I travel or when Iรขโฌ™m free.
BossMac: Sweet. So, how are you liking the Philippine eSports scene so far?
LaMia: Iรขโฌ™m impressed. Back in our country, we donรขโฌ™t have mall events. Everything is in a venue so itรขโฌ™s closed off. But here, people see whatรขโฌ™s happening. People passing by check out whatรขโฌ™s going on.
Pheilox: Yeah and the crowd is hyped and interesting because when something happens they cheer and it gets really exciting.
BossMac: So, last question guys. Do you have any words of advice for young and aspiring gamers wanting to step in the pro-gaming scene?
Pheilox: Believe in yourself. Work on your skills and improve yourself. Check out your replays and see what youรขโฌ™re doing and try to improve on that.
BossMac: How about you LaMia, any tips?
LaMia: Play with friends. Just go out there, and play with your friends. Itรขโฌ™s a good experience. Youรขโฌ™ll eventually improve and youรขโฌ™ll know if youรขโฌ™re good at it then you move on from that. Umm yeah, play with your friends. Donรขโฌ™t start by wanting to be a pro-gamer immediately, because some people start with overconfidence wanting to be pro.
Pheilox: And most importantly, have fun!
LaMia: Yes, just have fun playing the game.
