First Impressions and Initial Benchmarks
We managed to spend some alone time with the NVIDIA Tegra Note 7 for some hands-on testing.
The NVIDIA Tegra Note is available in the Philippines via Cherry Mobile. Yeah, the #pcmasterrace prides itself over quality and Cherry Mobile isn’t really on the list of brands known for being top-of-the-line but you’d be surprised to know that NVIDIA is 100% behind the Cherry Mobile Tegra Note 7. So rest assured the Tegra Note 7 Philippines edition isn’t some cheap knockoff as we’ll see later.
Starting with the packaging, we have a simple moodshot of the Tegra Note 7 in a heavily NVIDIA themed box. The sides don’t say much aside from a few details like specs, package inclusion and a list of accessories.
Inside the package are the bare essentials: the NVIDIA Tegra Note 7, a micro-USB cable and a USB charger.
Holding the Cherry Mobile Tegra Note 7 for the first-time you’ll immediately feel its one solid piece of kit. The glossy screen is adorned by 2 speakers left and right in landscape mode.
At the back we can see the large Tegra Note branding. Notice the subtle Cherry Mobile logo there? That’s not the camera angle, the Cherry Mobile logo is actually rather vague and barely visible in some angles so you can lug this around in public without worrying about the negative buzz if that bothers you that much.
Looking around from the sides you can see the slim profile of the Tegra Note 7. While it doesn’t have that metallic trim that other brand have, the tablet itself is sturdy and doesn’t bend or creak even when gripped with force. The microUSB and microHDMI ports as well as the audio jack are on the upper end of the Tegra Note 7 along with the power/unlock button. The volume rocker is on the upper right side just beside the microSD card slot. On the lower right corner of the Tegra Note 7 is the stylus, one of this tablet’s most talked about feature.
Powering up, we’re greeted with the loading screen which approximately lasts anywhere between 30 seconds to almost a minute.
Fully booted up, we’re met with a fully stock version of Android Kitkat (4.4.2). The screen is bright and crisp and the glossy screen complements the colors of the display albeit in indoor lighting conditions.
Browsing around, we can feel the Tegra Note 7 is really snappy and firing a few applications up (stock apps) we can switch around easily. We’ve yet to load this with some of our games so wait for our full review on that.
Going back on the screen, the display has a great viewing angle and retains full vividness even on obscure angles.

Next Nvidia Shield tablet review
really depends on how successful the TN7 is. if its a hit, nvidia is sure to bring the shield tablet here
This is awesuuuum.:D
is there an android update for the cherry mobile tegra note 7? or ist it better to get the non cherry mobile release?
Its been almost half-a-year since I had tthis Tegra Note 7 and since then it has only gotten 1 update for the firmware. I haven’t explored the idea of using other releases though, same goes for the Shield Tablet we have. Definitely should read up on it before trying it yourself. NVIDIA might have some proprietary stuff going on under the hood.
thanks! appreciate the feedback.. just found that the nvidia tegra note will get android L; will the cherry mobile release get this as well?
worth it po ba bilin ito?
Is this device still good nowadays? Just for gaming (mainly clash of clans) and multimedia (youtube and movies). Will appreciate any response. Thanks!
Yup, its still worth it and it still runs 3D games quite smoothly. For those usage, i’d highly recommend it. Mine is still working since the this review was posted but since its heavily used nearly 24/7 (lots of people in this household use it) its battery life has dwindled to just about 2-3 hours now.
If you’re into tapping games like Love Live!, DJMax Technika or Cytus, its response tends to lag a bit and not register so I won’t recommend it if you’re seriously into those games like I am. Other than that, Clash of Clans is no problem and the screen really looks great.
any nvidia shields review
I dont know but mine is always lagging specially kapag ioopen ang facebook at google chrome! Nakakabwisit! Hayshhh!
Pero pag games ayos lng naman??
Yeah mine does that when there’s a lot of ongoing background apps, what I do is just clear everything. The Tegra Note 7 currently has Android 5.1 available and its definitely lighter than the out of box ROM. Ok naman pag games, definitely smooth and kung PC gamer ka nakaka-stream sya ng games sa PC. Kung malag para sayo suggest ko reset mo, ganun ginagawa ko after siguro 4 months ng heavy usage.
