So I recently noticed that most of the posts here in B2G are more of reviews, news and well something that lacks a little “personal” touch. Since Cher shared her experience with Borderlands, I might as well share a little of my experience with the game that has taken most of my free time.
So what’s the game you might ask? Well it’s League of Legends. Riot Game’s answer to the DotA craze that has seemed to sweep the world of competitive gaming. The game is distributed here in the country by Garena and it’s currently on it’s OBT phase. I was one of the lucky few who was able to play LoL while it was still strictly hosted on North America, and to be quite honest I was surprised it has taken a foothold here in the country.
The game plays pretty much like DotA in a lot of ways. I wouldn’t go into details with LoL since I already did a comprehensive review of it for Onrpg. I would eventually link it here when the article comes live so watch out for it (that is if you want to read it).
So what’s the point of me doing a post about the game since I’m not making a review of it? Simple, I just want to share why I’m so addicted to the game right now that I haven’t touched any other game for a while now. It’s kind of funny since I never really liked competitive games (well except for DotA) so I was surprised that I stuck with LoL for as long as I did.
I mean there came a point that I really hated the game since the people were rude and really unforgiving specially to noobs (like me since I forgotten everything about LoL since it was ages since I played the game). It’s rare to find people who are actually nice in the game since most are jerks who think they know everything about the game. There were a few of these so-called jerks that actually knew how to kill but they lacked the actual leadership skills to do something in a teamplay. I could actually rant on and on about unsportsmanlike players and their incarnations in LoL but that’s already a given since I’m playing in the PH (which mainly is composed of gamers who lack netiquette or even actual etiquette sad to say).
And in LoL teamplay is the key to success.
And I for one am a teamplayer unless my teammate turns out to be a pain which would turn me into a selfish player as well. Of course that isn’t really helpful in the long run, but I only turn like this if the so-called “expert” was really starting to tick me off.
After my botched experience during CBT, I finally understood what kind of playstyle I’m more appropriate for things went smoothly for me as I kept on winning and bringing home the bacon. Of course there were times when I actually was at peak form that we would lose since my teammates would be either dead weights or our lineup was just too underpowered that the opposing team would eat us alive.
I liked the idea of getting myself into the fray and doing my part and winning (of course) because it gave me a sense of accomplishment that I know is illogical but fulfilling. In the flipside, I find it really frustrating to lose specially if we had a fighting chance but due to either a teammate quitting or getting disconnected the tides of war seem to turn into a tsunami that would kill us all.
Still regardless of these things I kept on playing since the competitive side of me (or the persistent side, call it what you will) is lit because often find myself at the end of matches mumbling “one more match…. one more win…”, and no I have not yet turned to the crazy side (weeell,,, that crazy side at least).
So if you’re interested in adding me or even playing with me on the fields of justice just add me up on my garena messenger: Ojogo.
See you when I see you!
