Just when you thought they couldn’t offer more innovations to the vastly expanded world of The Sims, here they go releasing a new version of the game. The Sims Medieval is a standalone game which boasts of new features, new settings and a new twist in the familiar gameplay that we’ve come to love.
Since the setting will be during the Middle Ages, you get to be immersed in the world of Kings, Queens, Knights and Wizards. Here’s the curious thing, you get to create heroes, go on quests and build kingdoms while at the same time weaving epic tales of romance. Sounds like this version of The Sims has gone borderline on what game genre it can be defined in.
Heroes will be able to build up their skills in order to go on epic quests. A player can control heroes from the entire kingdom and not just on his own household, which might mean a possibility for multi-party quests. The wizards can cast spells, one can learn powerful ones. Since there is also a crafting system, there is also that ability to forge weapons. Once your kingdom is all set, you can declare war on neighboring kingdoms and set out to conquer them. For a past time, your character can go on fishing.
Looks like there’s a lot to do with this game. It’s a cross between an RPG game, a strategy-game and a simulation game. Whew! That’s a lot compressed into one title.
One will notice the change in visuals too. The Sims Medieval has donned on a new art style. The buildings will reflect the sims profession. Everything will go with the Middle Ages theme, from buildings, to everyday objects, down to the clothes of the people.
The Sims Medieval is looking to be a very ambitious game yet one that could revive the gamers’ fascination with the Sims. It will be released March 2011 and looks I’m going to be one of the people checking it out.
Aren’t you excited too?
