We may be only six months into the year, but 2012 has already seen a selection of amazing games. From shooters to magical kingdoms to new multiplayer obsessions, the sheer amount of playing time we’ve logged could mobilize an army.  So which games were the best of the crop? Which ones stood out and made the first half of this year truly remarkable?
In case you missed them, here are the 10 best games of 2012 so far:
10. Warp
It’s all fun and games when you’re a cute bouncy alien who can blow things up. Despite – or maybe because of – the cognitive dissonance, Warp turned out to be one of the most enjoyable games of the year.
9. Kingdoms of Amalur: ReckoningÂÂ
With over 100 dungeons to conquer, Kingdoms is the kind of game you can get lost in for days. Who needs sleep, anyway?
8. Final Fantasy XIII-2ÂÂ
Everyone loves a good Final Fantasy game, and the latest installment doesn’t disappoint, especially in the graphics department.
7. Soul Calibur V
With new faces and increased character customization options, Soul Calibur V has become the fighting man’s Sims.  It’s just fortunate that you don’t have to spend real money on their upgrades, because otherwise you’d need really good credit cards.
6. Uncharted: Golden AbyssÂÂ
Released on the litte-loved PSVita, many thought this treasure hunting game wouldn’t live up to its shinier predecessors. Needless to say, they were wrong.
5. The Darkness II
Gory yet strangely satisfying, The Darkness II offers the power of life and death through the hands its supernaturally-powered mob boss anti-hero. And if that sounds like complicated, just dismember your enemies until you feel better.
4. SSX
Ready for the ultimate adrenaline rush? SSX turns gravity upside down, sometimes
literally, in a snowboarding game that’s as addictive as it amazing.
3. JourneyÂÂ
Beautiful, surreal and utterly unique, Journey is a must-have for anyone tired of complicated RPGs or mindless shoot-em-ups.
2. Street Fighter X Tekken
Fans lined the street for this mash-up of two beloved gaming series, making it a popular release and the real reason behind many a credit cards 0 balance transfer. Gamers will do what they must to fund their fix, sometimes not considering their own average credit card debt!
1. Mass Effect 3
One of the most hotly anticipated games of 2012, the only bad thing about the release of Mass Effect 3 is that it marked the finale to the series, and that means we won’t get any more.
With better graphics, improved controls and more variety than ever, 2012 has definitely been a good year for games, and things are only looking up when we peek into the future. Just think, we still have Assassin’s Creed 3 coming up!
Where’s Diablo 3???
ÂÂ
lol even if this article was done by myself I will NOT put Diablo 3 as one of the top games of 2012, not by a LONG SHOT.
If the definition of “best” is “hype”, it’ll be there.
I don’t want to buy something that’s constantly tethered to a server like an MMO so that one can play it like a stand-alone game, have to pay to play, and have to deal with server downtime.
