Sandbox Interactive is adding dragons to Albion Online for the first time with Dragonfire, a major content update launching 31 August 2026. The free-to-play sandbox MMORPG, which first launched in 2017 and recently underwent a visual overhaul alongside its console debut on Xbox, will roll the update out across PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), Xbox Series S|X, Android, and iOS.
Azaryon the Fire Dragon
The update’s story begins with the Ashborn completing rituals to awaken the game’s dragons, but one creature looms above the rest: Azaryon, the Fire Dragon, who lairs deep within a dungeon that only the toughest groups will be able to enter. Sandbox Interactive describes the fight against Azaryon as the toughest PvE battle in Albion Online‘s history, demanding skill, teamwork, and dedication. Dragons will also attack the Royal Continent and the Outlands, creating spontaneous encounters for solo players and guilds alike.
A New Realm: The Ancient Lands
The same rituals that woke the dragons have opened portals to a previously unknown realm called the Ancient Lands, a series of islands floating high above Albion. Players who venture there will face Ashborn enemies and powerful Drakes, with the difficulty and rewards increasing the deeper they explore. Those who reach the Dragon Sanctuary will find a brand-new raid dungeon where groups can test themselves against imposing bosses, including the leader of the Ashborn herself.
New Rewards: Dragon Armor and the Fire Drake Mount
- Dragon Armor: Crafted from dragon bones and wings, granting players powerful new abilities in battle.
- Drake Egg: The update’s most valuable reward, obtained by defeating Azaryon. Players can nurture and grow it into their own Fire Drake mount.
