HoYoverse has unveiled Nodusfall, a co-op action game set in an original fantasy world woven together from mythologies across the globe. The game made its world premiere during gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 in Cologne, hosted by Geoff Keighley, with the official Nodusfall website launching alongside the broadcast as the studio shared its first comprehensive overview of the project. Its  giant shift for the company behind Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero, trading their bright anime styling for a realistic art direction and heavy, squad-based combat against massive creatures.

The studio’s tagline for Nodusfall: “Wield Divinity, Sever the Dreadnodus.” Players take on the role of a Weaver in a world where divine authority and order have both collapsed, forming squads with companions to bring down mythic beings, claim what divinity remains, and uncover the secrets buried deep within the world itself.

Nodusfall official site is live: The game’s website at nodusfall.hoyoverse.com is now open with Features, Chronicles, News, and Community sections, along with a Pre-Register option. HoYoverse notes players should follow official channels to secure beta access, catch battle reports, and connect with fellow Weavers. No platforms or release date have been announced.

A World Assembled from Many Mythologies

HoYoverse describes Nodusfall as drawing on diverse mythologies from all over the world, merged into a single expansive fantasy setting where the landscape, human civilization, and the divine order each follow their own internal logic. That little detail stands out most, as it frames the game as a self-contained mythological world versus being a retelling of a single culture’s mythologies.

The realistic art style marks another major shift, so much so I thought was another Elden Ring DLC. But no, the studio says the continent is populated with legendary creatures ranging from ancient beasts rooted in Eastern folklore to colossal dragons that herald catastrophe. New regions, each with their own ecosystems, cultures, and histories, will be revealed one at a time as the story unfolds.

The Weaver and the Dreadnodus

The central conflict revolves around the Dreadnodus, a mysterious force that descends on the world, spreads catastrophe, corrupts legendary beings, and drives the realm to ruin. The player character is shaped and awakened by the essence of creation itself, dropped into this shattered world as the Weaver, tasked with confronting the calamity, severing the Dreadnodus at its root, and reclaiming the power that was lost.

The official site frames the backstory around the essence of creation that once swirled at the heart of the heavens, weaving the sun, moon, stars, and laws of all realms, until an unknown calamity tainted the threads of order and the glory of the divine began to fade. Portions of the site’s Chronicles section, including an entry labeled Primordial Myth, remain locked, so the studio is clearly holding lore back for later story beats.

Squad Combat, Divine Skills, and Swappable Loadouts

Combat is built around forming a squad and taking on massive beasts, with HoYoverse calling every battle a dual test of synergy and tactical adaptability. Players customize their characters with different combat styles and skill combinations, while the studio’s core loop encourages keeping relentless pressure on a creature as a team, then punishing the opening that appears when it stumbles. Kills reward players with resources, new skills, and new weapons that feed back into evolving builds.

The four pillars currently featured on the official site are:

  • Face Mighty Foes, Reweave the Miracle: Cross a mythic world unraveling at its seams as the Weaver and challenge colossal foes born of legend.
  • Stand Together, Break the Deadlock: Team up with allies and fight side by side to shatter the deadlock and restore order to a broken world.
  • Seize Their Power, Shatter Their Might: Reap divine power from enemies to unlock Divine Skills that are yours alone, turning their own might against them.
  • Slay, Forge, Build, Evolve: Switch roles and loadouts at will, fell mightier foes to claim mightier relics, and adapt to any fight.

What Is Confirmed and What Is Not

The reveal is deliberately light on the specifics that usually decide whether a game lands on your radar. HoYoverse has not named platforms, has not given a release window, and has not stated a party size for co-op. Several outlets covering the premiere have reported the game runs on Unreal Engine 5 and have drawn comparisons to Monster Hunter and Elden Ring Nightreign, though the studio itself has not confirmed the engine or invited those comparisons in its own materials.

Where to Follow It

Pre-registration and future development updates run through the official Nodusfall website, where HoYoverse says news, development updates, and event information will be posted. The studio closed its announcement by stating it looks forward to meeting Weavers on the mythic continent when the time comes.

Nodusfall joins a notably wide slate for HoYoverse alongside its live-service titles, and it is the clearest signal yet that the studio is willing to build outside the anime-styled gacha RPG lane it is known for. We will update this story as platform and release details are confirmed.
