Kalanoro, an action-adventure game developed by Madagascar-based Red Raketa Studio, launched September 24. New Tales publishes the game internationally, while SEGA handles publishing in Japan and selected Asian markets.

A folklore-inspired musical road trip
The game is set in Lemuria, a colorful world inspired by Malagasy folklore. Players control Kalakely, a Kalanoro creature who sets out to form a band, challenge the witch Raneny and free the island. The adventure combines platforming, combat and light management, including a journey in a taxi-brousse.
Kalakely uses hair-based abilities and improvised weapons, while players recruit lemur musicians and help their band gain popularity. Red Raketa Studio describes the release as its debut game. The studio is based in Madagascar and created the project with a team of local developers and artists.

Kalanoro is available through digital storefronts. See the developer’s game page for further information.
