Parry Frames Studio has revealed Stray Dog: nobody cares, a third-person soulslike in which the player character is not a knight, a hollow, or a shinobi, but a dog. The game went live on Steam on August 19, 2026 with a wishlist page, no release date, and no price attached. It is the studio’s second title after Crimson Oath, the Sekiro-influenced soulslike it shipped in April 2026, and the studio says the project was picked by a community vote that drew more than 500 participants.

Wishlist only for now: The Steam page for Stray Dog: nobody cares lists the release date as “Coming soon” with no price and no launch window announced. The store page went up on August 19, 2026, and wishlisting is currently the only action available.

A Hound, A Disgraced Knight, And A Border Fief On Fire

The setting is a medieval world torn by endless wars between kingdoms. The border fief of Greythorn has been invaded by a tyrannical legion, and the studio’s own description is blunt about the tone: no gods shelter the land, no heroes rise to save the folk, villages burn, and ordinary lives are crushed under iron hooves. Villagers, servants and beasts alike are cast aside and forgotten.

The protagonist is an unnamed hound raised since birth by a knight. That knight is a disgraced retiree who fought for the legion for decades and earned glory, only to be slandered and discarded after uncovering the legion’s dark secrets. He never trained the dog for battle. He taught it to hide and to survive far from war. When the knight is captured, the dog takes his frayed sword in its jaws and goes after him anyway.

The framing the studio leans on throughout is that the world sees the animal as roadside trash and worthless vermin, while the fallen knight is the dog’s entire world. That is the whole motivation. There are no kingdoms to save and no schemes to unravel from the dog’s side of the story.

Parries, Stealth Kills, And Combat Arts

Mechanically this is familiar ground handled with a four-legged twist. The studio lists deflection, stealth kills and executions as the core of a Sekiro-style combat loop, alongside a set of special combat arts meant to support different play styles rather than a single optimal build. Boss fights are pitched as the difficulty ceiling.

Progression follows soulslike convention. Levels are built for exploration with treasures to find, and defeating enemies awards EXP and gold that go toward unlocking more skills. Steam’s user tags currently frame the game as linear and singleplayer rather than open-structured, and the page carries a Violent content descriptor.

  • Deflection and parry: the timing-based defensive core, with executions as the payoff for winning an exchange.
  • Stealth kills: backstabs and openers that fit the knight’s original lesson to the dog, which was to hide and survive rather than fight head on.
  • Combat arts: special abilities intended to give players more than one viable approach to the same encounter.
  • Exploration and progression: soulslike level design with hidden treasure, plus EXP and gold earned from combat spent on skill unlocks.

What Parry Frames Built Before This

Parry Frames is not starting from zero. The studio’s debut soulslike Crimson Oath launched on Steam in April 2026 at USD 14.99, built around six levels, twelve boss encounters and more than eighty enemy types, with parry, dodge and counter layered into its combat. In the announcement post for the new game, the studio cited 728 user reviews at 82 percent positive for that title. The Steam store page for Crimson Oath currently shows a Very Positive rating from a slightly higher review count as the total keeps climbing.

The studio also states that Stray Dog: nobody cares was chosen through a community vote of more than 500 participants, which is worth reading as a small-studio signal rather than a marketing one. The original Chinese title is 只狗:路边一条.

System Requirements

The Steam page already carries a full requirements block, which is unusual for a title with no date attached. The processor and GPU entries are written using the store page’s own shorthand, and the naming is inconsistent with AMD and NVIDIA’s actual product names, so treat these as indicative rather than final.

ComponentMinimumRecommended
OSWindows 7 or newerWindows 10 or newer
ProcessorAMD R7 3600 (as listed)AMD R7 3700X or better
Memory16 GB RAM16 GB RAM
GraphicsRTX 1660 Super (as listed)RTX 3060 or better
DirectXVersion 12Version 12
Storage15 GB available space15 GB available space

The minimum GPU line reads as a GTX 1660 Super and the minimum CPU line reads as a Ryzen 5 3600 based on the model numbers used, but the store page has not been corrected at the time of writing. A 15 GB install footprint on both tiers points to a compact, level-based game rather than a sprawling open world.

Availability And Languages

Stray Dog: nobody cares is a Windows PC title on Steam with Family Sharing support and no announced platforms beyond that. The store page lists twelve supported languages: English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Russian, Polish and Portuguese (Brazil).
