Ubisoft’s upcoming game “Ghost Recon: Wildlands” has released a new gameplay trailer.
Dubbed the “stealth takedown” trailer, it features a variation of the El Pozolero mission from a few weeks ago and this time, the Ghosts are coming in at night, taking advantage of the dark to locate and extract the target.
Like previous gameplay trailers, much emphasis was placed on the cooperative nature of the game. However, the video went to great lengths reminding viewers that the game can and will be played solo with AI team-mates. A monumental task for Ubisoft’s programmers, but highly rewarding should they be able to pull it off.
Unlike Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain where you play a lone operative plus a buddy, GR:W gives you a black ops unit that can be assigned various tasks from providing recon and cover fire, to sabotage and securing the target. You come in as a team and you finish as a team. It also helps that you can customize at least your character (no word yet if you can customize your team mates) to further give the feeling that this is your unit.
This title promises to be the biggest Ghost Recon game yet, with a massive open-world map with various types of terrain as well as a huge number of vehicles you can control either to accomplish your mission or just travel around the map. The shooting really does look appealing with nice physics making reactions realistic. If there is one downside that I see from these early videos, it’s the fact that the player animations seems quite limited, or lifted heavily from The Division (I also remember seeing some animations from Splinter Cell: Blacklist). I can live with those, but Ubisoft still has months before release date. Plenty of time to make tweaks.
I’ve decided to buy a PS4 for Christmas, and I can’t wait to get my hands on this game. We at Back2gaming aren’t being sent review copies, so I’ll gladly buy my own copy so I can review it for you.
