So we move on to our third guide for Team Fortress 2. We’re giving you the tips on how to get the achievements for the “Kenny” (Southpark reference for those who don’t know) of the job classes. Here’s a big thanks to Big Downloads for the comprehensive tips.
Combined Fire
Use your shotgun to finish off 20 players you’ve ignited.
This one is a fairly easy one to get in normal play, especially since you’ll most likely end up switching to shotgun when your targets start to escape anyways. Just whip out that shotgun and blast away while they run from your awesome pyro self. They should be running from you in the first place anyways. A great place to do this is in the entrance of 2fort. Thankfully, this doesn’t have to be done in a single life, so just have at it and enjoy yourself.
To farm this, just get the opposing players to line up for you. Make sure they are all scouts. Set them on fire and then kill them with the shotgun. It’s pretty much the same as normal play, except they stay nice and still. Just make sure that you kill them one at a time. If you ignite a whole line and then try to kill them with the shotgun, the ones on the end might burn out before you reach them. Or they might die from the burning.
Tip: They must currently be burning for the kill to count. They can’t have burned out before you kill them.
Firewall
Ignite 5 Spies who have a sapper on a friendly building.
This one really depends on your personal play style. Most players are offensive pyros, so won’t get this achievement unless they actually try for it. Basically, just hang back near engineer goodies. If you see someone come up, keep an eye on them. If they sap the buildings, torch them. Much like the last achievement, this doesn’t have to be in one life, so it’s fairly easy to get when you actually try. It can sometimes pay to hide, because spies a lot of times won’t make any moves with pyros around
To farm this achievement, get two engineers on your team and five spies on the enemy team. Have your engineers set up all their buildings, and then have the spies disguise and sap the buildings. Torch the spies, and congratulations, you’ve both gotten the achievement and gotten halfway to I Fry!
Tip: The spies don’t have to die, just be ignited.
Cooking the Books
Ignite 5 enemies carrying your intelligence.
Much like firewall, this requires that you play a very defensive pyro game. Hang around the intel room, lurking around corners and letting enemies sneak past you to grab the intel. As soon as they do, burst from the shadows and set them on fire. It’s both a great way to defend your intel as well as get this achievement. If you really feel like it, just hide behind the intel counter and pop up to flame them when they show up.
To farm this, get five enemies in your intel room. Have one take the intel and let you torch him. As soon as he is on fire, have him pass the intel. Doing it this way, you can get it in about 15 seconds with zero hassle. It’s a fairly easy achievement normally though, so it doesn’t really require farming to complete.
Tip: As with all igniting achievements, you don’t have to kill the target. Also, this doesn’t have to be done on a single life.
Spontaneous Combustion
Ignite 10 cloaked Spies.
Doing this normally is as much luck as anything. If you are playing against skilled spies, chances are you will never get the chance to get this achievement. However, the easiest way to get it is to loiter around entryways and paths, waiting for a spy to bump you. As soon as they do, torch ’em. Tack one more towards your goal of 10 burning spies!
To farm this, get a spy and medic on the opposing team. Have the spy cloak in front of you, then torch him. Let the medic heal the spy to remove the flames. Then torch him again. You can finish this achievement with only 3 people and minimal time through this method, and no luck is involved at any time in the process. Remember, you don’t have to kill the cloaked spy for him to count.
Tip: Attacking a spy and then having him cloak while on fire, unfortunately, doesn’t count. It’s still hilarious though!
Trailblazer
Ignite 10 enemies that have recently used a teleporter.
This one is pretty easy to get, actually. If you know there is an enemy teleporter nearby, just keep an eye out for players with the glowing sparkly trail. If they have it, torch them so fast. Make sure not to destroy the teleporter so that they continue to feed you live bodies to work on the achievement. Much like the other ignite achievements, you don’t have to actually kill anybody to get the achievement, just burn them.
To farm this achievement, get an engineer willing to be your torching dummy. Have him set up a dispenser next to his teleporter entrance, and then have him set up the exit next to you. When he comes out, torch him. Let him run back to the entrance. The dispenser will heal him and remove the flames, and then he can head through and you can torch him again. Using this method, you can tackle this achievement with only one other player!
Camp Fire
Kill 3 enemies in a row, all within the same area.
First of all, in a row means within seconds of each other. This means you are going to have to be extremely aggressive. Staying alive also helps. The best way to do this achievement is to stop a rush from a medic and another class. Chances are three to four enemies will be all around the same area, allowing you to torch them and kill them.
To farm this, get three enemies willing to die to come to you. Then burn them to the ground. You’ll get this achievement almost instantly. Make sure to kill them all around the same time, or you won’t get the achievement. One at a time won’t cut it here. Make sure they don’t move as well.
Tip: You don’t have the be alive to receive this achievement. For example, if you set a scout rush on fire, and three of them die near each other, even if one of them killed you, you still get the achievement.
Lumberjack
Kill 3 people with your axe in one life.
This one is a fairly easy achievement to get normally. When an enemy rushes your position, hide and let them run by. Once you are behind them, leap out and torch them for initial damage. Then run up and axe them in the face. Whether or not you have the axetinguisher doesn’t matter, as chances are they will have taken enough damage to fall to your mighty axe. Do this three times (or against a group of three people) and you will get the achievement.
To farm this, have three of your friends play scouts and line up all nice in a row for you. Axe each one in turn, and make sure they don’t kill you in the process. If you want, taunt after you kill the last one to work on the Freezer Burn achievement.Really east to farm as long as you don’t get killed.
Tip: Can be done with either fire axe or axetinguisher.
Clearcutter
Kill 6 people with your axe in one life.
Much like Lumberjack, you really need to hide in the shadows to get this achievement. Unlike Lumberjack, you should probably hide in the shadows near your own base. This achievement is much easier with the axetinguisher, so getting it before you do the achievement will simplify your efforts greatly. Just toast and chop away, making sure to stay alive. You may want to tackle individual enemies instead of large groups to keep yourself alive.
To farm this, do much like you did for the lumberjack achievement, except do it twice! There’s nothing special to it. Just swing, hit, collect your kill, and move on.
Tip: Like Lumberjack, can be done with both axe and axetinguisher.
Firewatch
Ignite 10 snipers while they are zoomed in.
This one can be hard or easy, depending on the strength of the opposing team’s defense. The best map to do this on is 2fort. Rush through the base and to the battlements. Flame any snipers up there and then drop down below. Rinse and repeat until you’ve set 10 on fire. You don’t have to kill the snipers, but doing so will help your team and further the Firefighter or Pyromancer achievement. Also remember that it doesn’t have to be done in a single life, so you can afford to die.
To farm this, get a sniper and a medic combo near you. Have the sniper zoom in to somewhere in the distance, and set him on fire. Have the medic remove the flames, and repeat. Doing it ten times will snag you this wondrous achievement. Alternatively, get a team of snipers to zoom in and sweep them with the flamethrower.
Tip: You can tell if a sniper is zoomed in if their face is pressed against the stock of the gun, looking through the sights. Don’t bother setting snipers on fire that aren’t aiming if you are going for this achievement.
Burn Ward
Ignite 3 medics that are ready to deploy an Ãœbercharge.
This one, much like most of the ignite achievements, doesn’t have to be done in a single life. To do this one normally, just go medic hunting. You are most likely to find medics with übercharge near heavies, soldiers, and demomen, because those classes seem to be the ones that soak up the damage. Make sure you catch them by surprise, so they don’t activate their übercharge before you can arrive, ruining your plan.
To farm this, it’s best to get three friends that are working on medic achievements. When they get übercharge all filled up, set them on fire. Requires very little effort on your part, thankfully. If you get four medics, one can even work on Autoclave (by übering you while you torch the medics). You don’t have to kill the medics.
Tip: You can tell if any medic, friendly or not, has an übercharge by looking at the medigun. If lightning and sparks are flashing around the barrel, they have übercharge and should be a target.
Makin’ Bacon
Kill 50 Heavies with your flamethrower.
This is a great achievement to work on in tandem with Firefighter as well as Burn Ward. Basically, hunt down medic and heavy combos and burn them alive. Be extremely aggressive, otherwise the heavy will make short work of you with his minigun. Also, make sure to take out the medic first. Once you toast 50 of the big guys, you’ll get this achievement. If you go for heavy and medic combos, you’ll also easily snag the Next of Kindling achievement.
To farm this, get a couple of friends willing to be toasted by your pyromaniac self. Have them play heavies and mow them down. You don’t have to do it in a single life, but it’s easier to farm if you don’t die at all in the process. You have to kill the heavies as well, not just ignite them. If a medic is on the opposing team, have him heal the heavy as well and torch the both. You’ll next the Next of Kindling achievement for your efforts.
Tip: The backburner, if you have it, is a great way to work on this achievement thanks to the critical bonuses
Plan B
Kill 10 enemies while you’re both underwater.
This one is a lot easier than it seems. Since you don’t really have to worry about range, just switch to a shotgun when you go underwater and blast away. You can also lurk under the water and surprise enemies with a firm axe chop to the neck if you so wish. Just don’t try and use your flamethrower, for obvious reasons, unless you like to die. The best place to lurk underwater is the center pool in 2fort.
To farm this achievement, have opposing scouts jump into the center pool of 2fort as soon as they spawn. Then proceed to blast them away with your shotgun. After ten fall and limply float on the water surface, you will unlock the achievement. Scouts are the best for this because of their low amount of health, but any class will do. It’s also good to farm the Clearcutter achievement while you are doing this, as axes work underwater just fine.
Tip: Underwater is counted as anywhere that has the player floating. Therefore, the sewers sections leading away from the center pool in 2fort can’t be used to work on this achievement.
Pyrotechnics
Kill 3 enemies in a single übercharge.
Ah, the counterpart to the Autoclave medic achievement. However, unlike Autoclave, you must actually kill the enemies to get the achievement. The best way to do this normally is to get a medic attached to you when you are a pyro and rush the opposing positions. As soon as you start taking fire, have the medic activate the über and then go on a killing rampage. As long as your rush isn’t stopped by air blasts or a pesky level 3 sentry, you should be able to get the achievement without an issue. This is a good achievement to attempt in tandem with Arsonist.
To farm this achievement, join up with so friends that are farming the medic achievements. Have one of them start healing you until he gets übercharged, and then slaughter them while invincible. You should get this achievement, and the medic should get Autoclave and Bedside Manner, if he doesn’t have them already. Just make sure your other friends are willing to be burned in a pyre of destruction, otherwise you may end up with some hurt feelings. And that’s never any fun.
Tip: You can kill the enemies with anything, so igniting them and then using the axetinguisher is a great way to rack those kills up.
Arsonist
Destroy 50 Engineer buildings.
This one is almost a perfect fit for offensive pyros. If you happen to be with a great medic, let him über you and then make a push into an enemy base. Anything short of a level 3 sentry won’t push you back enough to keep you from rushing forward. Just in case, though, having your medic go first during the über is a great way to lure the sentry fire while allowing you to move forward. If you don’t feel like base rushing, look for teleporter exits and destroy them.
To farm this, just have an engineer continually build dispensers, teleporter entrances, and teleporter exits in front of you. Torch them, but be careful not to kill the engineer, otherwise you’ll have to wait while he respawns to continue getting the achievement. After a little bit, you should get it. You can keep track of how many buildings you’ve destroyed on the current map by looking on the scoreboard.
Tip: The buildings don’t have to be finished in order for them to count. If you catch an engineer in the middle of building, roast him and his stuff.
Dead Heat
Kill an enemy in the same second that he kills you.
This one you will most likely get by accident through normal play. If you are torching someone and they manage to kill you right before they die, but they die from the flames anyways, you’ll get the achievement. Because of this, it’s a great achievement to try and get with the weaker classes like scout, sniper, engineer, or spy. Like the achievement says, you must kill them within a second of them killing you, so you have exactly one second before the achievement can’t be gotten.
To farm this, have a friend be an enemy pyro. Stand right up next to each other, and at the exact same time use your flamethrowers. You will, with any luck, get a double KO easily. Then you’ll get the achievement. You can also try this with any other class, like soldier, by torching them until they are almost dead and then having them kill you at the last instant. Immediately after, they should die from the flames. Voila, achievement obtained!
Tip: This can only be done with weapons that cause ignition, so flamethrower, backburner, and flare gun only.
Pilot Light
Ignite a rocket-jumping Soldier while he’s in midair.
There’s two ways to do this through normal play. The first way is to keep watch on the battlements of 2fort. Make sure you have your flare gun equipped. As soon as you seen a soldier rocket jump, set him on fire with a nice shot from your flare gun. As you only have to set him on fire, it still counts. The other method is to loiter around your base, waiting for an unsuspecting soldier to rocket jump close enough to you that you can set him on fire. You may want to do this on the battlements to surprise soldiers that are rocket jumping onto them.
To farm this, get an enemy soldier to rocket jump in front of you. Near the end of his fall, set him on fire. You should obtain Pilot Light, and all is well with the world. If a medic is on the other team, they can also try and go for Medical Intervention. It’s extremely easy to farm if you get a soldier willing to rocket jump in front of you.
Tip: You can ignite them at any point during the rocket jump. This includes both going up and coming back down.
Freezer Burn
Provide enemies with freezecam shots of each of your taunts.
This one is very similar to the Autopsy Report achievement of the medic update. However, unlike the medic update, you don’t need to take a screenshot and you don’t need to be standing over their body. To do this, just make sure you keep an eye on the kills in the top right. As soon as you notice your name up there as getting a kill, press G. If you do it fast enough, it’ll catch you in the taunt with the freezecam. Do it once per taunt (flaming hadouken, air guitar, victory pose) and you’ll get the achievement.
To farm this achievement, get three friends willing to die for you. Kill them each in turn with each weapon you need to taunt with, and taunt as soon as they die. After the third person falls, you’ll get the achievement. You need to do this with the axe, flamethrower, and shotgun each.
Tip: If someone burns to death far away from you, the freezecam still zooms in on you. So when you see an enemy die to your flames in the top right, make sure to taunt.
Hot on Your Heels
Kill 50 enemies with your flamethrower, from behind.
This achievement can be hard or easy, it really all depends on both luck and the level. To get this normally, lurk around corners, behind boxes, and just generally be sneaky. When an enemy runs by you and doesn’t see you, run behind him and start torching. Don’t stop until he dies! Once you kill 50 people from behind overall, you’ll get the achievement. Doesn’t have to be in a single life. The backburner, thanks to the guaranteed criticals, is a great weapon for grinding this achievement.
To farm this achievement, pick the backburner and get some friends to be scouts on the opposing team. Have them rush you, them turn around. Toast them from behind, and bam, achievement is yours! In much the same way as the normal way, the backburner is the best here thanks to the bonus for attacking from behind.
Tip: You don’t have to immediately kill them. If they die from burning when they were set on fire from behind, it still counts.
Next of Kindling
Ignite an enemy and the Medic healing him.
This one you will probably get almost immediately. In normal play, just find a medic healing somebody. Usually it’ll be a heavy, and then you can work on the Makin’ Bacon achievement without issue. Set the heavy on fire, then the medic, and you’ll get the achievement. After you kill the medic, make sure to go and attack the heavy so you get credit for the Makin’ Bacon achievement.
To farm this, get two medics to come to you. Burn one and then burn the other, and you’ll get the achievement. This is also good because it’ll allow the medic players to farm for the Infernal Medicine achievement. The achievement really goes well with any ingite achievements, so the possibilities are endless for other achievements to work on in conjunction with this one.
Tip: The enemy can be any class, not just heavy or medic.
Second Degree Burn
Kill a burning enemy who was ignited by another Pyro.
This one is a fairly easy achievement to get in normal play. Run around with a pyro buddy, and once he sets someone on fire, attack that person. If you kill them, you will get the achievement no problem. A great weapon to use for this achievement is the axetinguisher, thanks to the guaranteed critical hit on flaming enemies. To get the achievement, you must get credit for the kill, not an assist. So attack them like crazy! The flare gun is a great way to start the ignition as well, since the friendly player can’t accidentally kill the enemy by holding down fire too
long.
To farm this, get a two friends: one to play a friendly pyro, and another to play an enemy scout. Have your friendly pyro torch the scout briefly, and then kill the scout any way you please. You must kill the other player before the flames die out, or the achievement won’t register.
Tip: Any weapon can be used for this achievement. Two really excel for it though: the axetinguisher and backburner. With the backburner you can catch fleeing enemies, and the axetinguisher is almost a guaranteed kill since they are on fire. You just have to get close enough.
Weenie Roast
Have 2 enemy Scouts on fire at the same time.
This one can be easy or hard, it really just depends on the circumstances. The easiest way to get this achievement is to run to the intel room immediately at the start of a round of 2fort. With any luck, a scout rush will burst into the room shortly after you get there. Torch them all, and you’ll get the achievement without any hardship. AN alternative is to use the flare gun on the battlements to ignite oncoming scouts. Just make sure that you catch the second scout on fire before the first fire dies out.
To farm this, get two buddies willing to stand in front of your flamethrower as scouts. Set them on fire, and you’ll get the achievement. The medic achievement for killing scouts with a syringe gun is a great achievement to work on in tandem with this one, as the fire will weaken the scouts for the medic to shoot with his needle gun.
Tip: You can also try being the stationary flamethrower turret with a dispenser. That sometimes catches scouts unaware.
Baptism by Fire
Force 10 burning enemies to jump into water.
You can’t really “force” enemies to jump into water, except maybe with the compressed air blast, but the general meaning of it is still there. If an enemy jumps into water while he has your flames enveloping his poor fragile frame, you’ll get another tally towards this achievement. Once ten do so, you will get the achievement. TH=he best place for this in normal play is right outside the enemy entrance. Set them on fire as they leave, and with any luck they’ll go to the sewers to extinguish the flames.
For farming this, you’ll also want to be near the center water in 2fort. Get your friends to let you set them on fire and then leap into the center. After they have extinguished the flames, have them travel through the sewers back to your position. Repeat until you’ve done it ten times, and you will get the achievement!
Tip: The enemy has to float in the water for it to count, so doing it in the sewers won’t work.
Fire and Forget
Kill 15 players while you’re dead.
This one you will probably stumble into just by playing a good pyro. Basically, in order to do this, you will have to set a guy on fire, die, and then kill him while you are dead through the fire burning him to death. So make sure you aren’t on an instant respawn server. As the backburner kills too fast and the flare gun doesn’t really deal enough damage, the default flamethrower is the best weapon for the job. TO do this normally, just play a pyro. Surprise players. You’ll get it pretty quickly, with any luck.
To farm this achievement, get a friend to play an opposing scout. Burn him a bit, and then have him kill you. While you are dead, he should burn out and die, tacking one to your tally. Do this fifteen times, and the achievement will be yours. Much like the normal method, the flamethrower is best for this.
Tip: They must die before you respawn, so if you respawn before your fire kills them, you won’t get the kill.
I Fry
Ignite 10 disguised Spies.
This one is extremely easy to obtain in both normal and farming play. To get it in normal play, just spy check everyone you meet. With any luck, you’ll occasionally catch a spy on fire. After you catch 10 spies with your nice flamethrower, you’ll get the achievement. Simple. It’s something that, as a pyro, you should probably be doing anyways. A great place to do this is near the battlements on 2fort. Just spy check all who walk by!
To farm this, get disguised spies to line up in front of you, and a single medic to remove the fire from each. Since you only need to ignite a disguised spy 10 times, you can do this with only one spy and one medic, even. Just grind away at it until you snag the achievement.
Tip: If you ignite a cloaked spy that is disguised, it counts for both I Fry and Spontaneous Combustion.
OMGWTFBBQ
Kill an enemy with a taunt.
There is only one way to do this, and that’s through hitting someone with the hadouken taunt (the flare gun or shotgun taunt). There’s two ways to try and get this through normal play. Either sneak up on a sniper and use it (the easiest way) or jst continually do it while hanging in narrow hallways or around corners. Eventually you’ll nail someone and you’ll get the achievement. As there is a long wind-up time on the taunt, it can be quite hard to hit someone who isn’t stationary.
To farm this, just get a friend to stand in front of you while you perform the hadouken on them. Make sure they don’t move, and as soon as you perform it and kill them, you’ll get the achievement with no problem. It’s very easy to farm, since it only requires two people and is guaranteed to succeed if they work together properly.
Tip: The hadouken is an instant kill if you hit with it.
Got A Light?
Ignite an enemy Spy while he’s flicking a cigarette.
This one is practically impossible, so I’ll just cover normal play and farming in one paragraph. To get this achievement, you must either catch a spy taunting with his cigarette at the beginning of a round, or have one cooperate with you. If you see one doing the flicking taunt, ignite him. The cigarette flicking taunt is the taunt associated with the disguise kit.
Tip: Any method of igniting is perfectly acceptable. Flare gun, flamethrower, or backburner all work.
BarbeQueQ
Cause a dominated player to leave the server.
This one is a rather funny achievement, but it really up to luck whether or not you get it. In normal play, you have two ways of obtaining it, one of which requires admin on whatever server you are playing on. The first is to dominate a player (or several) and just continue to dominate them, either be killing them more or by avoiding them. Once they leave, you’ll get the achievement. The other method, which is far harsher, is to dominate a player and then kick him from your server.
To farm this achievement, have a friend join a server you are on and let you dominate him. Have him leave, and you’ll get the achievement lickity split. Relatively painless to do through farming, since it only has to be one person and they only have to be dominated and leave.
Tip: The game assumes that the player leaving is leaving because of you. So any player leaving that you are currently dominating will trigger the achievement.
Dance Dance Immolation
Kill 3 enemies while they’re taunting.
To do this one normally you’re going to have to rely on a lot of luck. There are a few players that habitually taunt after every kill, even if they are in the middle of a warzone. They will probably be your best bet. The alternative is to try and sneak around, following opposing players. Wait until they kill someone alone and taunt over the corpse, then toast them. Easy to do, but hard to find someone that is willing to taunt near enemy players.
To farm this, just get a friend to taunt in front of you, and then roast them. Do this three times and the achievement is yours. Just make sure they don’t do a hadouken taunt, or you might die!
Tip: Any class, any taunt works.
Hotshot
Kill a Soldier with a reflected critical rocket.
This one really depends on both luck and skill to get in normal play. You’ll have to watch for a soldier to get a critical rocket, and you’ll also have to make sure he’s launching it at a path relative to his own. In fact, it’s mostly luck whether or not you get the right situation to reflect a critical rocket to kill a soldier. However, you also need to be skilled with the compressed air blast, making sure you know how to reflect.
To farm this, get a soldier to stand near an ammo crate and shoot rockets at you. Just keep reflecting them at him. If they are normal rockets, have him dodge, and if one is a critical, have it hit him. This way, you work on both Hot Potato and Hotshot at the same time. Just make sure you have the skill necessary to reflect a rocket back at an opponent with ease.
Tip: Remember that soldiers still have a 40% damage reduction if a rocket hits their feet as they jump. Take this into account, as cunning soldiers will use it against you. However, the 40% damage reduction no longer applies anywhere else.
Firefighter
Kill 500 enemies.
This one is done in a very similar fashion both farming and normally. To do it normally, just play a very offensive pyro. This achievement only requires you to kill 500 enemies, it doesn’t specify how. Axe, flamethrower, shotgun, all are fair game for slaughtering your enemies. Good achievements to go for while getting this one are the Lumberjack and Clearcutter achievements, as well as Camp Fire.
To farm this, act much like you are farming the Hot On Your Heels achievement. Get your friends to rush you, and burn them alive. Backburner or flamethrower are both great for this achievement, thanks to the heavy damage at close range. You can also work on the many other kill achievements, like Clearcutter, Dance Dance Immolation, or OMGWTFBBQ.
Tip: Don’t be cautious. This doesn’t have to be done in a single life. Go hog wild and tear through the enemies.
Fire Chief
Kill 1000 enemies
As this achievement is just the bigger version of Firefighter, much of the same rules apply. For doing this normally, playing a defensive pyro is actually better than the offensive pyro I suggested for Firefighter. The reasoning is that while Firefighter is relatively easy to get while being an offensive pyro, being defensive will give you a better chance at racking up the kills necessary for this achievement. Just let them come to you and burn them all.
Since you’ve probably already gotten Clearcutter, Dance Dance Immolation, and OMGWTFBBQ by the time you start farming this achievement, here’s some others that go well with it. Pyrotechnics, Dead Heat, Fire and Forget, and Makin’ Bacon are all good to work on while doing this achievement, as they all require kills as well. Just rind away, and you’ll eventually snag the achievement.
Tip: The flamethrower + axetinguisher combo is great for racking up kills. If you already have the axetinguisher, it’s great for this achievement.
Attention Getter
Ignite 100 enemies with the flare gun.
The only achievement on this list that requires you to have done other achievements first, it’s of reasonable difficulty. The flare gun isn’t the killing power horse that the shotgun is, thanks to its weak initial damage and the burning damage that can easily be removed. It’s also highly inaccurate. However, you must only ignite, not kill, so just have a go with it.
To farm this achievement, just have the opposing team be medics and start shooting them with the flare gun. They will heal each other and remove the flames, letting you torch them again. This way you can work on this achievement and they can work on Infernal Medicine if they do not have it already.
Tip: Get up close; it makes it impossible to miss.
Pyromancer
Do 1 million points of total fire damage.
Playing this normally and farming involve the exact same tactics. Burn fools. Possibly also torch them. Farming it is easier because they don’t fight back, however. If you are farming this, having the enemy team all be heavies and rush at you directly is a great way to both rack up the kills and the burn damage. Burn damage also includes fire from the Backburner, so you also may have more luck using it to get this achievement thanks to the criticals. Don’t forget the flare gun as well. Burn damage also means both initial and the gradual burning damage, so you can torch and run away, or keep up close and get the kill. This is sort of the culminating achievement.
Tip: Remember that the closer you are with the flamethrower, the more initial damage you deal.
Hot Potato
Reflect 100 projectiles with your compressed air blast.
This one is extremely easy to get in both normal play and farming. In normal play, hang around areas where demomen like to lob grenades. If you blast away the grenades, stick or otherwise, it counts as a reflection. You can also hang around soldiers or, if you are insane, attempt to reflect bullets. You’ll probably get this achievement just through goofing off with the compressed air blast.
To farm this, just get a soldier to stand near an ammo box or dispenser and fire rockets at you. Just keep reflecting them. You’ll get the achievement in no time flat, thanks to the soldier having a steady ammo supply. If you are lucky, you might even get the Hotshot achievement while you are at it if you reflect a critical and it kills the soldier.
Tip: All projectiles can be reflected. This includes bullets. It seems impossible, but it can be done.
Controlled Burn
Ignite 50 enemies capturing one of your control points.
The one is extremely easy if you are playing a defensive pyro. Just loiter around a control point and wait for an enemy to start capturing it. Leap onto the point and start torching him alive. If you are feeling particularly helpful, have a medic über you when you do so, netting him the Ubi Concordia achievement while you work on this one. Plus, you can’t die! Sweet.
To farm this one, get two medics willing to be set on fire. Have one run onto the point, and torch him. Have him run back and the other medic run forward onto the point, and torch that medic. The healing will eliminate any flames, making it so you don’t have to bother with respawning. Doing it this way will also net you the Next of Kindling achievement pretty quickly.
Tip: As always, you do not have to kill, merely set on fire. If you want, a flare gun works just as well, thanks to its range.
