Sennheiser, purveyor of sweet, sweet audio equipment and accessories, took over C3 Events Place in Greenhills to introduce some new additions to its Originals by adidas line. In addition to the launch, Sennheiser had some of its existing products on hand for attendees of the event to try out.
Since I got there relatively early, I had a chance to try out pretty much all of the products they had on display. For the record, I don’t have much experience using Sennheiser products, but I can definitely see why it’s considered a leading brand in audio accessories. Everything they had on display sounded great, with each set having its own unique features and selling points tailored for specific types of users.
The stars of the show, the two new additions to the adidas Originals line, are a really sweet deal if you’re a fan of either brand and are looking for top-of-the-line audio accessories. The Sennheiser HD 220 and CX 310 both pack the same audio quality as the rest of Sennheiser’s wares while married with adidas’ iconic three-stripe design and shade of blue. Haoson was also able to test out the slick HD 25 unit which according to him really cancels out sound while providing superb audios. Just for kicks we tried out if the HD 25 cancel out noise by trash talking Vincent to his face while he kept on listening to what was playing in the his mp3 player. The result was the unit did provide awesome sound cancellation since Haoson told me he didn’t hear a thing.
Being the nerds we are, we obviously spent the most time at the Gaming section. The sets on display were the PC 230, PC 333D, PC 350, and PC 360. Like we normally do when we test audio accessories, we go with music and games. In this case, they didn’t have a gaming rig on hand, so we busted out a PSP to try them out with Monster Hunter Portable 3rd and a smattering of different kinds of music. For the record, we here at Back2Gaming believe that the Monster Hunter Portable series is one of the best benchmarks of sound design on the PSP. We booted up the game and started a quest. Haoson, a longtime MH player, loves how Portable 3rd sounds through Sennheiser’s sets, especially how ambient, minute sounds and monster roars come through in all their clarity.
We’re looking to spend more time with these headsets so we can provide more comprehensive reviews on them. But, from our initial experiences, we already like what we hear.
Later on in the program, I got interviewed by the host of the program. It was… kinda nerve-wracking, actually. Part of me wanted to go at length about game soundtracks and such, but common sense prevailed and I just kept my answers short. Besides, I’d look like a complete buffoon if I did. Anyway, we also got to win some swag and Haoson even walked away with a sweet pair of headphones from the raffle.
Well, that’s pretty much it. In the meantime, feel free to browse through the photos we took from the event.
