AMD has recently formally launched their RX 480 along with the debut of the RX 470 and RX 460 ahead of its local launch to the local Philippine media. This local launch aims to deliver the message and positioning that AMD is taking with the release of their RX 480.
Heading the launch is AMD regional rep Ryan Sim who states that the strength of the AMD Radeon RX 480 lies in its price and value proposition, offering a relatively affordable midrange card that can handle all modern games including VR experiences for only Php15,000. At the same time, Sim also mentions that the ability to scale further with AMD Crossfire technology gives the additional flexibility for upgraders to scale their performance upwards by introducing a new AMD Radeon RX 480 into their system.
The recently launched RX 470 and RX 460 were also introduced during the launch and AMD PH rep Sonny Sy mentions that these are the highlight cards for AMD as they resonate with the company’s focus on the mainstream market.
The AMD RX 480 has already been launched last June 29 to combat the surge of NVIDIA cards but has met its rival in the GTX 1060. The AMD Radeon RX 460 and RX 470 will also launch this month and will directly target the sub-$200 market for lower-mainstream to upper-entry level gamers.
