AMD has quietly published a product page placeholder for the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, effectively confirming the existence of the next 8-core entry in the company’s upcoming Granite Ridge X3D lineup. The page appeared without announcement and, as of this writing, remains live, lending strong credibility to expectations that AMD is preparing an official unveiling during CES 2026.
The Ryzen 7 9850X3D follows the same 8-core, 16-thread configuration as its predecessor but introduces higher-binned silicon that pushes boost clocks up to 5.6 GHz. This is a notable 400 MHz increase over the current Ryzen 7 9800X3D. The chip retains its 96 MB total L3 cache thanks to the company’s now-standard single-stack 3D V-Cache implementation and is listed with a 120 W TDP.
This development is consistent with earlier leaks from October that pointed to multiple X3D refresh parts in development. While AMD has now effectively confirmed the 9850X3D, the company has yet to publicly acknowledge other rumored models, including the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, a dual-chiplet 3D V-Cache SKU reportedly featuring stacked cache on both CCDs for a combined L3 cache capacity of around 192 MB.
Early information suggests the 9950X3D2 may trade a small amount of peak boost frequency for significantly higher cache density, targeting the upper end of gaming and latency-sensitive workloads. A 200 W TDP and 4.3 GHz base clock have also been rumored, although AMD has not provided any formal details.
For now, only the Ryzen 7 9850X3D appears on AMD’s official site, but its presence is a strong indication that the refreshed X3D stack is nearing readiness. With CES 2026 on the horizon, and with Intel preparing Arrow Lake Refresh for early next year, AMD’s timing suggests that the company intends to reinforce its gaming-centric offerings at the turn of the year.
| CPU Model | Cores / Threads | L3 Cache | Base Clock | Max Boost Clock | TDP / Power Envelope |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ryzen 7 9850X3D | 8 / 16 | 96 MB (3D V-Cache) | 4.7 GHz | Up to 5.6 GHz | 120 W |
| Ryzen 7 9800X3D | 8 / 16 | 96 MB (3D V-Cache) | 4.7 GHz | Up to 5.2 GHz | 120 W |
| Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 | 16 / 32 | ~192 MB (3D V-Cache on both CCDs) | 4.3 GHz | Up to 5.6 GHz | ~200 W |
| Ryzen 9 9950X3D | 16 / 32 | 128 MB (3D V-Cache on one CCD) | 4.3 GHz | Up to 5.7 GHz | 170 W |

It’s just a binned chip and probably why we have not seen too many 9800x3d’s with an SP past 116 only have seen ES chips at 130, AMD probably held the higher quality silicon Ryzen 7’s just for this. Most 9800x3D’s can do a PBO tune with a curve, all core negative offset of 15-20 then adding that 400mhz is easy. Yet it’s not going to add much to the table in terms of gaming performance you will be lucky to get 1-3 more FPS.
this guy 100%
I just bought a 9800X3D ♂️
Marty M*******n still the best cpu on the market basically
Marty M*******n me too i replaced my 9700x
Marty M*******n same here .. with tuf x870e plus but this cpu 9850x3d is not big deal. 9800x3d it’s a monster
AMD slowing taking over as the king of cpu’s and gpus
Blair R***r idk about the GPUs but CPUs ⭐️ for sure.
Blair R***r not even close
Blair R***r my friends use amd gpus and have problems constantly and say ” well I have more customizable settings or tuning” yet im here with 0 issues with an rtx 4080 3 years old and 2, 10 year old gtx cards no issues.
Nate W O***s been using amd gpu for a while and never once had an issue nor have any of my other pc friends with amd setups.
Blair R***r maybe its a newer modle issues idk but ive seen nothing up issues on my experience
Nate W O***s that’s what i’m referring to the new ones like the 9800x3d and cards like the 7900xtx and so on.
400 MHz more on top of a 5+ GHz; that’s 4x a Pentium 100 I used with DOS, and the speed of some Pentium III (architecture advancements aside).
But still far from 10 GHz promised decades ago by Intel.
Daniel U***a literally my intel pulls 6.4hz on idle
Nate W O***s Standard setting? What are you using?
Daniel U***a i7-14700k and stock out of the box. the lowest I see is like 5.6hz and I use to have a i7-13700kf and it would idle at like 5.4hz (stock) had it for 3 years
Nate W O***s Thanks.
Specs should be 5.4 GHz, 6.4 would be too much, and 100% on idle? I had many CPUs, most recently a 13620 laptop; it is another class, but most Intel I used did save power when idle. Something different, I suppose.
Daniel U***a maybe
999850x3D will need a to be powered by a super micro nuclear reactor
I will keep to my i9 14900 at 6ghz thank you, fastest chip my arse lol
Neil Perlsolwell considering in different games even my 5700x3d beat that useless defective oven and I paid 1/10
Alessandro C*****i each to their own user case i guess, for games there probably are better cpu’s most suited for that, but not everyone plays games. My 6gz cpu was chosen for its single core speed for a task that doesn’t use multi core. So to me the fastest cpu is the i9 14900k. Paired with a 420mm aio cooler voted the best, my cpu temp hovers at 30deg c

I’ll wait for a totally worthy upgrade for my 7800X3D, probably AM6 would be a good upgrade if the uplift is great and power efficient.
Von L***o R*****o in 2027 amd 6
Slow as hell in rendering despite the damn expensive price. This CPU is only for people who are obsessed with 1080p gaming.
They aren’t work horse cpus, they’re gaming chips, if you want a work horse get a thread ripper or a Xeon processor
Stephen A******n or a 9950x3d, best of both for 600 euros
The new King

My 9800X3D get 5.7 with b650 aorus elite wtf
Why I have 9800x3d that better
NEVER EVER EVER USE AMD FOR ANYTHING !!!!
Erik M****n L*******d amd processors are better for gaming than intel what are you talking about lol
Kole K******r GET A BRAIN FAGGOT !!!
Erik M****n L*******d just google it lmao
