ASUS is welcoming the formal launch of Intel’s higher-end 8th-generation (CoffeeLake) Core processors on notebooks with the reveal of the new ROG GM501 Zephyrus M. The new GM501 Zephyrus M will feature a 6-core Intel Core i7-8750H and will have a base clock of 2.2Ghz and can boost up to 4.1Ghz. The processor has 9MB of L3 cache and is rated with a 45W TDP.
The original Zephyrus was launched with 24GB of DDR4 memory, options for 512GB or 1TB SSD-only storage and a choice between GTX 1070 or GTX 1080 graphics card options. This spec varies by market and the local PH model will be receiving the same as its predecessor with options for SSD and GPU still remaining the same.
The processor isn’t the only upgrade the Zephyrus is receiving with the monitor getting bumped up to 144hz versus the original 120hz on its FHD panel. The screen still retains NVIDIA G-Sync support.
ASUS’ new ROG GM501 Zephyrus M will also feature a slight facelift with the keyboard being shifted up closer to the screen. This means that ASUS’ has managed to eliminate the need to intake from the perforated vent present on the original Zephyrus design.
The new design also changes the dimensions on the GM501 Zephyrus M with the notebook folding to a minimum 17.5mm frame. The intake panel at the bottom also lifts a bit higher giving the Zephyrus M a maximum thickness of 19.9mm. The weight also goes up to 2.45kg.
ASUS also implements a new RGB lighting system on the GM501 Zephyrus M for more dynamic lighting possibilities.
The ROG GM501 Zephyrus M will be available side-by-side with the original GX501 Zephyrus.
The new ROG GM501 Zephyrus M will be available in two variants: a GTX 1060 model with an SRP of Php119,995 and a GTX 1070 Ti model with an SRP of Php149,995
