During the ASUS Incredible Intelligence event in Malaysia, the company launched its latest monitors for both business and consumers and under their ROG brand, their new ultrawide offering comes in the form of the ROG STRIX XG49VQ.
The 49″ monitor features a 32:9 aspect ratio meaning it goes a bit wider than the regular 21:9 ultrawide screen. The ROG STRIX XG49VQ features a 3840×1080 resolution and has a refresh rate of 144hz. The new screen also features HDR with an HDR400 certification. The screen is FreeSync 2 HDR compatible.
The ROG STRIX XG49VQ is designed to be a gaming monitor as well a content-creation screen so ASUS has left out some of the novelty of mainline ROG screens most notably the RGB LED lighting at the back. This keeps the XG49VQ a bit more discrete especially when used in a professional setting like an office.
Extending the functionality of the ROG STRIX XG49VQ is Picture by picture which allows the monitor to display from up to 3 devices at one. This allows certain usage scenarios particularly for streamers/gamers and professionals to monitor and view multiple devices at the same time. The screen was shown to be able to display from a laptop, a gaming PC and a console at the same time.
