The spoiler minefield is officially active. Unofficial gameplay footage and story details for Resident Evil Requiem have begun circulating online, even with Denuvo confirmed for the PC release. This has prompted an immediate and aggressive response from Capcom.
With the highly anticipated survival horror game drawing close to its release date, the developer released an official plea to the community. They are asking fans to refrain from posting or sharing pre-release materials. While they are appealing to the community’s desire for a pure experience, Capcom is also deploying their legal team to handle the situation.
“We really want everyone to enjoy the game’s story and experience as much as possible. Our legal department will continue to issue takedowns and deletion notices for leaks in order to preserve your day-one experience.”
This type of leak is a recurring nightmare for major AAA releases, especially for narrative-heavy games where surprises and scares are core to the design. If you are trying to go into Resident Evil Requiem completely blind, it is highly recommended that you start muting related keywords on your social media timelines and video platforms immediately.
Capcom signed off their message by reminding fans that “it’s not long now” until the game is officially out. Until then, navigate the web carefully.
