New info has begun to trickle in for Dissidia 012 [duodecim]: Final Fantasy by way of V Jump magazine. Of particular emphasis this time around are outfits of existing characters Cloud, Cecil, Sephiroth and Golbez. Hit the jump to take a gander at these new threads.

Cloud – a design by Yoshitaka Amano. You might’ve seen this one, or at least the upper half of it, in the Closed Mega Theater trailer from TGS.
Sephiroth – it’s the original, unaltered outfit from Final Fantasy VII, just in case you’re not a fan of the new shoulder pads and other embellishments of his Dissidia outfit.
Cecil – his third outfit is his Final Fantasy IV DS costume, grayish white with a different design for the chestplate.
Golbez – most dramatic costume change of the bunch. It’s his armorless FFIV: The After Years incarnation.
On the gameplay side of things, the article sheds a little more light on the game’s new assist system. “Assist Lock” sort of works like Marvel VS Capcom 2’s Snap Back mechanic which temporarily disbles your opponent’s assist character and is activated by hitting said assist character when it comes into play. Next is “Assist Charge”, which lets you fill up your assist gauges by either countering an HP attack when your own HP is low or when close to Break status.
Expect more details, and hopefully characters, to surface as we approach the end of the year and lead up into the Fabula Nova Crystalis conference on January 11th of next year.
