Finalmouse has pulled the cover off the Starlight X, the SLX, and it carries the first new shape the company has shipped in 11 years. Finalmouse is framing it as the largest engineering redesign in its history, with the shape, chassis, materials, click sensing, sensor, firmware, and RF stack all rebuilt. Pre-orders are open now at $179, with retail availability set to follow.

A new shape built for tactical FPS

The original Finalmouse shape became one of the most copied silhouettes in competitive gaming, so the replacement started from scratch. Finalmouse says it spent four years on the new shape across hundreds of iterations, clay sculpting, and more than 50 physical prototypes. The SLX is tuned for modern tactical shooters like Counter-Strike, with a fuller rear hump, more support and stability, smoother surface transitions, and reduced pressure points.

Footprint comes in at 124.8mm long, 58.9mm at the grip, and 39.5mm tall.

38 grams from a carbon fiber super composite

The full system weighs 38 grams. Finalmouse worked with aerospace manufacturing partners on a new carbon fiber super composite that measures below 0.9 g/cm³, which is lower density than water, meaning the material floats. The company claims roughly 70% more carbon fiber reinforcement and over three times the strength-to-weight ratio of magnesium.

The chassis itself moves away from exposed honeycomb. A three-component unibody main cage replaces the previous four-part assembly, held together by 15 graphite-coated titanium screws at around 0.02 grams each. Strategic carbon fiber beaming and pressure-mapped shell openings keep the structure rigid while leaving the primary contact zones as uninterrupted surfaces, with openings placed only where the hand never touches.

TMR-DS analog clicks

The headline mechanical feature is TMR-DS, the TMR Dual-State analog click system. A magnet sits beneath the clicker while a high-precision TMR sensor reads magnetic flux changes, so the system registers the moment a finger commits to a press rather than waiting for the switch to fully actuate. Finalmouse rates the click latency reduction at up to 35ms on the most sensitive setting and says it is rapid trigger capable.

Actuation control runs in increments as small as 0.01mm, with 40 discrete steps inside the pre-travel window. Tactility still comes from a Huano Blue Shell Pink Dot mechanical switch, so the feel and the analog sensing operate as two separate systems.

Wireless, sensor, and receiver

The SLX runs on the Nordic nRF54LM20 on a 25nm process node with 4 Mbps wireless modulation support, and Finalmouse is using a high-speed USB MCU architecture in both the mouse and the receiver for the first time. The wireless stack adds PerfectSync, which aligns sensor polling, MCU processing, RF transmission, and USB output, and PerfectPolling, which combines subtick optimization with high-speed USB interrupts. Finalmouse lists an XLAT-verified end-to-end latency of 223µs.

Tracking is handled by the Finalmouse F1, a custom sensor co-developed with PixArt and built specifically for the SLX, with stated gains in resolution accuracy, IPS, maximum resolution, and power efficiency. The mouse ships with a new puck-style receiver that uses a raised metal antenna and a steel internal weight to ground the PCB and keep it planted on the desk. Inside the mouse, the antenna has moved northward, a ceramic chip antenna has been added, and the RF pass-through chassis has been refined for stronger signal at lower transmission power.

Power comes from a Jauch 250mAh lithium cell. Configuration is handled through the Xpanel platform, with support across Windows, Mac, and Linux.
