I’ve expressed my fondness for PlayStation’s Astro especially in the Playroom speedrun level. In my review of the new Astro Bot game for PlayStation 5, I noted that the launch version of the game did not have the speedrun levels but that changes with the latest update to the game which adds the first 5 new levels for speedrunners to get their runs in.
Building Speed is the first of the speedrun levels for Astro Bot and sees players running a platforming gauntlet with the game’s bulldog backpack booster named Barkster. More levels will be added for the next couple of weeks so players have time to hone their speedrunning skills. As of this writing, 28 seconds seems to be the lowest time with very small intervals separating the top 10 scores.
The levels release schedule is as follows:
- Oct 17: Building Speed
- Oct 24: Let it Slide
- Oct 31: Spring-loaded Run
- Nov 7: Helium Heights
- Nov 14: Rising Heat
The levels also add new bots to rescue for a total of 10 more additional memorable bots from Playstation’s history.
