Intel Denies Partnership with AMD on Graphics Licensing

An earlier report circulated this week stating that Intel has reached out to AMD for a licensing deal in light of its graphics IP licensing with NVIDIA expiring soon. An Intel spokesperson has come out and with a statement to Barron’s saying that “the recent rumors that Intel has licensed AMD’s graphics technology are untrue.”

AMD has enjoyed a good rise in their stock prices thanks to this rumor soaring 12% before AMD’s Financial Analyst day. After Intel’s refute of the rumor, AMD stocks get punished, dropping to previous levels prior to the rumor. AMD did not make any statement during their Financial Analyst day regarding this rumor nor during the initial rounds of the story and with Intel not saying anything, that benefited them short term.
