Now, this is your chance to tap into your inner filmmaker with Intel’s Digital Showdown, a Facebook-based digital short film making contest. It’s all so simple: go to Intel Philippines’ Facebook page and hit ‘Like’, after which you may proceed to let the cameras start rolling. Just remember to tie it to the theme of how PCs help channel Filipino creativity and skill… and yes, you may find a way to tie it to gaming. How? That’s your call, friend.

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Filipinos are now recognized as one of the world’s top video uploaders on the most popular social networking sites. As such, Intel, the world’s largest silicon company, recently announced a new digital short film-making contest for Filipino home-movie enthusiasts called the “Intel Digital Showdown”. This contest taps in to the Pinoy’s creativity and fondness for creating and sharing videos on Facebook.
“We want to showcase the Filipino creativity and skill across the region and channel it through the usage of a PC,” said Randy Kanapi, marketing manager for Intel Microelectronics Philippines, Inc.
Winners of the contest have the chance to win notebook computers powered by the 2nd Generation Intel® CoreTM i3, i5 or i7 processors.
Interested participants must first ‘Like’ the Intel Facebook to join. The theme of the videos must be based on how the PC makes an impact in their life and may either be 30 seconds, 50 seconds, or 70 seconds in length. Videos may be shot in any format. Submissions must be converted into FLV video and files must be no larger than 10MB.
Participants can submit as many original entries, but can only win once. Finalists will be chosen by a judging panel appointed by Intel, after which their entries will be uploaded to the Intel Philippines Facebook for voting by Intel fans.
To increase chances of winning, Intel also commissioned renowned film directors RA Rivera and Quark Henares to provide mentoring and film-making expert advice on Facebook.
Voting will be open to the public for two weeks after the finalists’ submission of entries. The top three shortlisted films with the most number of votes will be the winners. Deadline for entries is on July 22, 2011.
