Lindsey Lohan Suing Rockstar Games

Our 3rd favorite Mean Girl (Rachel McAdams is #1) is once again in the news (sort of) as Lindsey Lohan is suing Rockstar Games for what she claims is the usage of her likeness on an in-game character within Grand Theft Auto V.

GTA V (rumored PC release date is end of 2014) has a character in-game which the troubled star claims to share a similar voice and similar clothes line. In the game you also assist this character in avoiding the paparazzi and complete a mission inside a hotel inspired by Lohan’s past residence; Chateau Marmont.

Lindsey Lohan suing Rockstar is ALREADY OLD NEWS since as early as December 2013 but didn’t materialize until now and this also isn’t the first of many claims that the gaming company has to deal with. Late last year, rapper Daz Dillinger claimed that Rockstar Games used his music for the GTA V OST. A cease and desist order was given to the publisher to stop the sales of further copies of Grand Theft Auto V, back then already having sold more than $1BILLION. Obviously, that didn’t stop the sale of GTA V and whatever happened to the case is still subject to speculation for what can be assumed as an out-of-court settlement.

More legal trouble came when two individuals sued Rockstar Games for false advertisement which was dismissed by the US District Court. The complainant cited that the game misled them to purchasing the game because it had online multiplayer, something that the judge didn’t agree with as GTA V clearly indicated in the box that it may not include online play for all players.

The GTA franchise and Rockstar have always been a magnet for controversey. Even the promo art sports a woman who looks exactly like Kate Upton. Still, GTA V is a mega-force in the games industry and is the same capacity as Call of Duty when it comes to popularity, to the point that both titles are competing for records like most copies sold in a day or most copies shipped in a day.
