In support of AMD’s commitment to provide Zen3 support on older AMD 300 series chipsets, MSI has just announced that their 300-series motherboards will receive the complete update that will allow MSI X370, B350 and A320 motherboards to support Ryzen 5000 CPUs via the latest AMD AGESA COMBO PI V2 1.2.0.7 BIOS which will rollout this May of 2022.
AMD announced earlier this year that it will commit to extending support for Ryzen 5000 on 1st-generation Ryzen era 300-series chipset motherboards from way back 2017. This will allow older Ryzen users to extend the life of their systems via a drop-in upgrade with newer CPUs although some platform limitations will not be available like PCIe Gen4. Still, this will be the last hurrah for AMD to prolong its aging AM4 socket before it moves to socket AM5 with new Ryzen 7000 CPUs expected later this year.
