MSI is quietly slipping the RTX 4090 SUPRIM X Classic which reuses the older RTX 30-era SUPRIM X cooler. Of course the mounting and coldplate has been redesigned to work with the RTX 4090 but follows the original rendition of the RTX 30-series.
While physically identical, there are some slight differences here notably the shroud which on the new SUPRIM X cooler is a light champagne gold tone while the original has a darker metallic shade. The accents also feature slightyly different crystal fragment effects. The backside also loseds the crystal logo in exchange for the MSI GAMING logo with RGB on the backplate.
Total weight on the classic drops to 2.16kg from 2.4kg on the newer version and length gets cut by a bit to 7.1cm.
Specs are display options remain the same on both cards. The news comes by way of MSI China via leaker @harukaze5719 which is not the only classic card that MSI is releasing as TechPowerUp shares images from CES 2023 images of MSI’s Radeon 7900 XTX and XT cards using the their old-style Gaming Trio cooler, similarly dubbed the Classic.
