There’s no doubting the wave of hype surrounding the the impending opening of a new NBA season each year. We’re about a week away from that, and for some, that’s a long and agonizing wait. Thanks to NBA 2K Online and its Closed Beta Test that starts today, you need not look far and wide to scratch that basketball itch.
To dive into the beta, head on over to nba2konline.ph to register for an account and get the game client. You can also keep yourself updated on further announcements through Facebook (NBA2KOnlinePH) and Twitter (@NBA2KOnlinePH). The closed beta runs all the way through November 15.
As the name implies, NBA 2K Online is a PC-exclusive spin-off of the massively popular NBA 2K series. With this release, developers Visual Concepts, along with co-dev team Tencent, aim to bring the tried-and-tested NBA 2K formula to an even wider audience with the help of a strong online component on PC. Given the Philippines’ combined loves of basketball and online gaming on PC, that’s a feat the team shouldn’t have too much trouble handling.
The closed beta isn’t skimping on modes. It will have MyCareer right out of the box, where you take your own custom player through the ranks and eventually face off against the NBA’s best. For those looking for a quick pick-up game of streetball, a 3v3 mode is available, too. The latter aims to get you into the thick of the action as quickly as possible. โThe game mode will appeal to players who want to play quick and successive matches until they satisfy their gaming cravings,โ says NBA2K Online product manager Bryan Dy. An Item Mall will also be open for players to take their customization to greater heights with items like boosters, level enhancers, shot packs, and clothing, as per the official press release.
โWeโve been waiting for the next big online game to arrive and this is it,โ says Ronald Aquino, who is confident NBA 2K Online will be strong contender as the for the distinction of being the top online game in the Philippines.
