According to Nintendo, the Online store for their latest handheld device, the 3DS is going to open next month (which is frankly a few days away). In celebration of it’s opening Nintendo is giving a game to players (for a limited time) who would be trying out (or logging into) the online store.
And guess what the game is… (oh no the header isn’t a dead giveaway)
Yep… you’re getting Excitebike, oh wait but there’s more! You’re not just getting the old Excitebike, no sir, you’d be getting EXCITEBIKE 3D. That’s right the motorcross classic is getting the 3D make-over and Nintendo is handing it out for free! For those who are too young to remember the game, Excitebike is an old school racing game which dates back to the Famicom. You’re a racer (duh) trying to beat the time in a semi-obstacle course. The game had 8-bit sounds and had a lot of jumps, you can in fact make your racer spin in jumps plus the stages had speed boosts and the game even had competitive AIs who would see love to see you eat dirt (and considering the AIs back then, Excitebike’s were exceptionally good in doing that).
If you need a more visual refresher on the thing here’s a video:
Now just think of that in a 3D format– It would totally blow my mind since I was a big Excitebike fan back then.
