Despite the availability situation we’re in right for NVIDIA graphics cards (which is thankfully better than AMD’s no-show RDNA2), NVIDIA and Samsung are bolstering their fabrication deal and is lengthening that partnership. NVIDIA and Samsung extended their partnership on December 17. This shuts down news that NVIDIA may seek TSMC for forging their RTX 30 series GPU with TSMC’s 7nm process. Insiders explicitly stated that NVIDIA wanted “quick delivery of the chips” as the reason for this partnership.
Samsung is looking to improve further its foundry business. Currently expected to post $14B dollars this fiscal year, growing 17.9% from last FY. Samsung may be looking to take some of TSMC’s customers be expediting development of its sub-7nm EUV lithography process.
