NVIDIA’s RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti are debuting on laptops soon but over on desktop, the RTX 3080 Ti could be the next SKU that will be released from NVIDIA. Chinese tech forums report that the RTX 3080 Ti may be announced during May 18, 2021 and reviews sample could be flying out by May 25. The card will hit the shelves of stores on the following day of the 26th.
The NVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti will be based on teh GA102-225 silicon which is a slight reduction of the GA102-300 of the RTX 3090. This positions the RTX 3080 Ti just below the RTX 3090 and will feature 10240 CUDA cores vs. 10496 on the RTX 3090. VRAM will also be cut in half at only 12GB of GDDR6X memory on a 384-bit bus.
The RTX 3080 Ti is expected to target the Radeon RX 6900XT, which itself may be getting a refresh with the Radeon RX 6900 XTX.
