This should be the intro to our launch review of the RTX Super lineup but as of this moment, our samples are still stuck in custom. So we’ll proceed instead with covering what we have from NVIDIA’s briefing calls and documents.
So to start things off, the new RTX Super line will consist of the RTX 2070 Super and the RTX 2060 Super with a pending RTX 2080 Super releasing sometime later on. The new RTX Super line of cards if intended to replace the RTX 2070 and the RTX 2060 Super will live with the non-Super version. That said, NVIDIA looks to inject some new performance to their stack and counter anything that AMD may throw at the come July 7th when the embargo lifts for the AMD Radeon RX 5700XT and RX 5700 alongside the 3rd-gen Ryzen processors. It is for that reason that NVIDIA decided to release ahead of AMD.
What’s in a Name?
We’ve all seen NVIDIA release souped up versions of existing products to fill in some gaps in their price points that AMD may be taking market from. The Ti models are the most notable of these and the Super lineup is pretty much the same. While NVIDIA may take the Super naming, it may still have some wiggle room to play around and up the game with Ti variant.
What’s new?
Both cards receive increase in CUDA cores and clock bumps but more than that, the RTX 2070 Super is now based on the TU104 silicon rather than the TU106. The TU104 is what the RTX 2080 and the upcoming RTX 2080 Super are based on. The card also gets a nice clock bump at 1605Mhz base and 1770Mhz boost versus the non-Super RTX 2070 at 1410/1620Mhz. The other major benefit that the RTX 2070 receives is NVLink. As a high-end card, the RTX 2070 was questioned for lacking NVLink support and now NVIDIA is releasing the RTX 2070 Super with NVLink support to allow multi-GPU configuration with the new card.
The RTX 2060 Super on the other hand receives a better portion of the TU106 silicon. With 2176 CUDA cores and a larger 8GB video memory connected to a wider 256-bit memory interface, the RTX 2060 Super receives a hefty bump. That alongside a baseclock increase of 1470Mhz gives this card plenty more juice. One thing to note that GPU boost has been trimmed slightly from 1680Mhz to 1650Mhz.

Its a weird launch since it also cannibalize their own rtx lineup
Thats how greed is nvidia.
