Thousands of players flooded Pocket Legends, the largest mobile MMO with more than 4 million downloads, to participate in the world’s first in-game, mobile flash mob during E3 to “Find the Droid.â€Â Spacetime Studios gave away more than 11,000 Sony Xperia PLAY themed vanity items during the online event.
During E3 the Droid mascot of the Android brand would appear in game during promoted intervals and race across the world. Players that successfully chased down the Droid were awarded an Xperia PLAY button icon (X, O, Δ and □) to place over their character’s head. Hints to where and when the Droid would appear were provided via Sony Ericcson’s and Spacetime Studios’ social media channels.
“Spacetime Studios is one of the premiere developers on Android right now and their games will bring a completely new online gaming experience to Xperia PLAY consumers,” said Dominic Neil-Dwyer, head of market development from Sony Ericsson. “The world’s first in-game, mobile flash mob showed the power of community in a game like Pocket Legends, bringing thousands of people together to play virtually.”
Spacetime Studios’ fantasy MMO Pocket Legends will be optimized for the Xperia PLAY this month. The addition of Pocket Legends to the Xperia PLAY lineup corresponds closely with the release of two new campaigns, raising of the level cap, and the introduction of player-run guilds.
