Fighting game star Ryan “Filipino Champ” Ramirez has returned to his Pinoy roots as he teams up with premiere organization PlayBook Esports with the goal of introducing new insights for the Filipino Fighting Game Community.
With a high level of professional experience earning him a total of 17 championship titles, including a win at the Evolution Championship Series, Filipino Champ together with PlayBook, the name behind numerous major Fighting Game events in the country such as BrawFest Versus Arena and the REV Major, will be working together to help unite the fighting game community, as well improve together in terms of the level of gameplay and conduct with one of the major goals being to represent the country well in international events.
Aside from working with local pros and aspirants, Filipino Champ will also be more involved in community work, by way of PlayBook Esports as to reach out to more members of the gaming community all over the country.
PlayBook Esports head Mr. Richard Brojan had this to say regarding this new development “We are very happy to welcome Filipino Champ to the local fighting game scene. His experience in the international stage will be a big help in motivating our local players to compete in the major tournaments outside the country. So we are really looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the community”
With this new team up, Filipino Champ states: “This is a big deal to me because I wanna unite the Fighting Game Community in the Philippines”. He also adds “My goal right now is to help everybody, train everybody, and work with everybody. I really appreciate PlayBook for bringing me in, to partner up with them and hopefully we can grow the gaming scene here in the Philippines”.
Filipino Champ started his pro gaming career with Super Street Fighter IV back in 2011 and has been a contender in Premiere and Major Marvel Vs. Capcom tournaments. His latest pro gaming stint is headlined by his appearance in Major Street Fighter V events where he mains the Yoga Master Dhalsim.
